December 12, 20232 yr Where in Bangkok should I do this and how much I should be expected to pay. I have a few concerning moles that appears to have grown overnight.
December 12, 20232 yr The only place in Bangkok I can recommend for this is the government Derm Institute near Victory Monument. https://www.iod.go.th/en/ Cost of consultation will be modest. If biopsy is done (and you should insist on it; do not rely on the experience of the dermatologist looking at your moles as experience with skin cancer is very, very limited in Thailand. ) then that adds to the cost but probably still just a few thousand baht per mole. Alternatively if you can get to Pattaya then this doctor specializes in skin cancer https://bangkokpattayahospital.com/doctor/anna-jaruwarn-m-d/ Cost will be more, though. Probably about 15k per mole give or take If the cosmetic result is a concern (note that wide incision may be necessary) then you might need a plastic surgeon to remove and that would up the costs Whenever you go, be insistent re biopsy even if the doctor dismisses them are simple moles. And do not delay; in the case of a mole the issue is potential melanoma which is a much greater danger than other types of skin cancer.
December 12, 20232 yr i have hundreds of moles, what makes you think it may be cancerous? i had a new one pop up and was a little itchy so got it removed

This is a potentially dangerous sign. Normal moles grow slowly.

December 12, 20232 yr Author To be honest, I don't know how long the moles have been there as they are on my back. 2 on my back and appear to be flaky. Feel different than other moles. No itching or pain.

What is the current procedure for making an appointment at that Institute of Dermatology near Victory Monument, Sheryl? I seem to recall you mentioning before that it is preferable to use the after-hours service, but that that is not possible on the first visit? Am I remembering correctly? I see that there is a form for making appointments online. Would that eliminate the need to get there at 6:00am and wait around all day? Thanks.

Thanks. You can visit the after hours clinic about 16.30 even if it is your first time there. But you have to register first, at about 9a.m.So you have to go twiceon the same day.If you are a registered patient with the IoD already, ie you already have an HN with them, you still have to go twice, but the morning visit takes only 30 seconds. Only if you have a follow-up appointment, you don't have to come in the morning.

So if I understand you correctly, I need to go there on any day (presumably only Monday through Friday?) at 9:00am and register with them, at which time they will give me an Institute of Dermatology ID card? Then I can go back at 16:30 on the same day (Does the second visit have to be on the same day? And do I need an appointment for the after hours clinic? Or should I just show up at 16:30?) I live on the opposite side of Bangkok, so it would be inconvenient for me to make two trips to there on the same day. And it would be a long day if I had to just hang around downtown waiting for 16:30. Thanks again.P.S. - So the online booking would only be useful for follow-up appointments?

Regular public channel is around 8AM - 4PM.You can register anytime but they do not issue cards, at least not when I have gone. What is being discussed is obtaining a queue number for a specific visit. It used to be that one could do this at 4-4:30 but it's over a year since I went there and according to @Lorry process has now changed, you have to get the queue number in the morning then return. See this thread https://aseannow.com/topic/1368645-any-real-skin-clinics-in-thailand/#comment-20171662As you have to go in the morning anyhow might prefer to just go through the public channel. Arrive by 8 AM would be best. Note that in any event, if you need excision or biopsy that will only be done through the public channel during normal government working hours, all you can do i nthe after hours clinic is ocnsultation.
