Have just watched a very good movie which I had held off watching because I didn't know much about it, but am so glad that I did finally get round to viewing it. The movie is called "The General" and concerns the "troubles" in Ireland during the time of turmoil.

 

It stars Brendan Gleeson and Jon Vogt amongst others and although it is in black and white, it seems to fit/suit the surroundings, action and era and IMO is very good indeed.

 

You could well be like me in not fully understanding what was going on in Ireland at that time (who really does?) And the movie touches on many aspects of those times. Well worth a watch.

I've just finished watching season 1 of Ellis, which was recommended by one of my mates, and it was good IMHO. It's on TGx.

Worth a look.

Some things I've watched:

The new season of Lioness is very good in my opinion. Jo continue to be annoying but the action is hot and heavy and the two lesbian helicopter pilots are coming into their own.

 

Yellowstone has recommenced without Kevin Costner. First episode was rocky but it's strengthened since then. Looks like Kayce is going to step up, which I'm happy about because I quite like that actor. It seems that the cowboys and ranch won't be playing a big role though.

 

Cobra Kai. The second third of season 6 is out. Five more episodes to go. This one is worth watching just for the karate brawl in the final episode.

 

Outlander. Last season for this long-running series. Jamie and Claire are grandparents by this point so the days of steamy sex scenes are over. The first two episode are out and I still don't know where this headed.

 

Cross. I didn't have high hopes for this one but it improved as it went on. The acting was good and the pace never flagged. The plot was absurd but it made for compulsive watching.

A case of an art film about first loves but in a queer context that should be something all humans can be able to relate it. (If not, they should check their pulse.) Northern Europeans seem to be especially good at this kind of theme. Though very well reviewed, the coming out reactions part of the film has been criticized for being extremely idealized and it really is, but that rather fantastical aspect doesn't really take away from the overall emotional impact.

One of the best TV series I've seen, other than Breaking Bad, is a series called Get Shorty. There's 3 seasons available on PB. Give it a try.

I had seriously problems getting past episode 3 season one on Braking bad, and have tried 2 times to get started. Have seen so many short clips on YouTube, both braking bad and better calling Saul, still haven't managed getting in to it. 

 

I will give it a try later on again.

The last tv series I truly enjoyed and gives it full score, maybe not all seasons, but most, is Peaky Blinders, and also The vikings, prison break, One of the Rome tv series, and also The Borgias, but when I feel a concept is used to many times, its starts to bore me, and I might get started again with the Braking bad, since I had to same problem with Prison Break and felt everyone else had seen it, except me. I ended up enjoying that very much when I first got in to it. 

 

I enjoyed the stupid tv show Lucifer, it was a no brainer watching, and ligh humor and good music, and sometimes a few hot ladies, but kind of stupid. Still it was okay to watch

 

I did enjoy a few of the Drug loard series who Involved Pablo Escobar and a few of the spin offs, but it got boring after awhile to, and the same I feel about these Oil and farmer/cowboy tv series.
