If you’re on the island, you don’t need to be told that it’s throbbing with tourists.

The Phuket office of the Tourism Authority of Thailand says the island has welcomed over 265,000 visitors over the end-of-year holiday period. According to Lertchai Wangtrakuldee, TAT Phuket director, this has potentially generated revenue of over 8 billion baht.

The Phuket News reports that Phuket International Airport welcomed over 600 flights in the four-day period from December 29 to January 1. A total of 63,836 foreign arrivals, an average of 15,959 a day, landed on 333 inbound flights (around 83 flights a day).
