A mother and her seven year old daughter yesterday were injured by a Khao Phaeng Ma wild bull which charged at them while the pair was riding a motorcycle in Nakhon Ratchasima.

The bull ran in from the side of the road, crashing into the motorcycle. The mother fell to the ground whilst her daughter’s clothes got caught by the wild bull’s horns, before falling to the ground, 100 metres from where the motorcycle had fallen. Both suffered serious injuries.

The mother and daughter, villagers of Khlong Durian, Village No. 6, Wang Nam Khiao Subdistrict, Wang Nam Khiao District Nakhon Ratchasima Province, were riding on their motorcycle going past a restaurant named Sida Kitchen at the 10 kilometre mark, which is a steep hill.

There were villagers who shouted at the pair to beware of bulls in the area which were grazing on the side of the road. The mother and daughter did not hear the warning and rode up the hill to the middle section. A wild bull ran from the side of the road and crashed into their motorcycle.

Make the bull owners pay for injuries and suffering.

wild bull

Government?

It's not a domestic bull/buffalo.

Looks like the original "red bull" which is actually a "gaur".

For English they just simplified it to "bull".

And Wang Nam Khiao is near the Khao Yai national park area.

I had no idea this happened here.

I would have thought the bull was used to passing vehicles. Guess he was a bit grumpy that day.

Wild... it was bleeding furious.

I hear the same arguments when soi dogs attack kids on a beach...  'that humans have invaded their territory'...  as if humans are not also indigenous to the area too...

Yes, I hear those arguments, too, and they bear some consideration, although "soi dogs" might not actually be able to be considered indigenous to Thailand's beaches. Most, maybe all, were initially brought here by....humans. The bulls, however, mentioned in this article's post are indigenous to Thailand's hillsides.

And I do agree that "humans" are indigenous to Thailand, at least as far as I know, but the number of humans that now occupy Thailand and the technologies that humans have brought and use are not. But, because of our (humans') hubris, the lives of animals and plants don't matter. All we (humans) want to do is be as comfortable as possible without considering the costs to the environment (climate change) and biosphere (soi dogs and bulls).

Only a woman could be armed with a fully operational motorcycle, a clear road ahead and behind her and still be mauled by the kwai / dumb animal.  Amazing.

By the way, it was not a farm buffalo. It was a wild bull. Even if your stereotyping was accurate, it would be inane in this case.

I hope the injured get well soon. Shame some people make fun of others pain.
