Please help settle a bet. My friends say we can't travel to the sun because it's too hot. I say if we go at night it won't be a problem. Who's correct?

  • So, with all you've done, how is it you ended up on a bragging about banging bargirls and being obsessed with Trump?

  • still kicking

Wait till/G/G comes along and ask you how to clean a space toilet.

In which case you must be in your late 80's at least as the early days of NASA started in; 1958 and I assume you were a real adult even then!

You also stated that;

"taught myself Russian. As a result, I was involved in passing legislation that enabled SpaceX, and was sent to Russia to rent the Mir space station"

The problem is that the Mir was a space station that operated in low Earth orbit from 1986 to 2001 which is not the "early years of NASA circa 1958"!

There is also the problem that SpaceX was not established until 2002 by Elon Musk!

Would you care to explain the mismatch of dates etc!

in the early days of my company, not NASA.

The Mir stuff was before I founded any companies.

Although I knew Elon when he founded SpaceX, my current 2 companies were not around when SpaceX was started.

Far from BS. Your questions are answered.

Some of my references are to projects and legislation that occurred before I got into the space business. For example, back in the day, I was part of a small group that opposed NASA development of the X-34 spaceplane, because it was designed as a commercial operational vehicle (X-planes are supposed to be experimental). It happens that Buzz Aldrin loved X-34, and decided to convince me of the error of his ways. He had my home number and would call me in the middle of the night to explain why I was wrong. Or call me at my day job (the company operator loved to announce on the PA that I had a call from Buzz Aldrin). Anyway, we managed to kill X-34. It came back later as a true experimental vehicle, but got cancelled before flight.

No business trips for me to Russia for a long time.

Back in the day, I spent a lot of time in Russia, working in the factory where the Soyuz spacecraft is produced. I could take long weekends and go to places like Samara, Voronezh, and Kaluga. I had one break for 10 days, and flew to Novosibirsk for a December holiday. It was -40 degrees every minute of every day. Cold. The airport didn't have an arrival building, you just got out and stood on the tarmac. At -40 degrees.

Did you play guitar for them?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dream_Chaser

Dream Chaser is preparing to fly Real Soon Now. Sierra Nevada is the company building the spaceplane, but most people don't know that Sierra Nevada got Dream Chaser when they bought Space Development Inc, a small startup from Poway, California. Space Dev was founded by Jim Benson, who made his money from being a DOD contractor. After he retired from DOD work, he got bored and founded a space company, which is when I met him. SpaceDev launched some satellites, and just before he died, Jim Benson conceived of DreamChaser, which was a copy of the HL-10 spaceplane, an old NASA design. After he died, Sierra Nevada bought what was left of SpaceDev.

DreamChaser should fly this year.

The Russians also copied HL-10, and made some short orbital flights.

so you're Jim Benson and you're ..er .. dead!?

I might be a small player in the space and telecoms sector, but you can Google my name and you'll find many references to my projects and companies.  So I'm still confused about all the secrecy!

I am also very impressed how an  itinerant guitar player (in your own words) with no qualifications has managed to rise to such a senior position in the space sector.  I had to study at college and university for 7 long years (MSc in Microwave & Modern Optics from UCL) before I was considered suitable to be employed in the UK space sector.....

No he was too busy playing either mind games with himself or just playing with himself!

Just the opposite - if you Google my name and my companies together, you would find personal info that is inappropriate here. You could find my name if you Google my companies.

As for qualifications, can you remind me of Elon Musk's university experience in aerospace engineering?

You are paying me the ultimate compliment by implying that my career is incredible.

No it is just a pack of lies!

There is also the problem that SpaceX was not established until 2002 by Elon Musk which is after and not before MIR was in existence!

Would you care to explain the mismatch of dates etc!

Would you please answer the specific points below;

I will make it easy for you;

a) What is your approximate age?

b) What year were you "involved in the early days of NASA"?

c) What year did you go to Russia and learn Russian?

d) What year did you get involved in passing legislation that enabled SpaceX?

e) Where was this legislation passed and what is the title of it

f) What year were you sent to Russia to rent the Mir space station

g) How do you rent a space station etc etc

Obviously his is much greater than your BS!

And I think it safe to say it's easier to pick up aerospace engineering with an undergrad in Physic than it is with a background playing guitar at local gin-mills.

The rules and my personal decorum quite rightly preclude me from divulging the contents of PM,s but all I can say is you are making Walter Mitty believable given what you sent me and which I did "Google"!

I was never involved in the "early days of "NASA", I was involved in the early days of one of my companies. I was the sole employee from 2006-2009 or so.

I learned Russian from reading Glushko's Encylopedia Astronautica in the late 1980s. I first went to Russia in 1998.

I helped pass the Launch Services Purchase Act, starting in 1987. It was signed into law by President Bush in 1990. Long interesting story there.

I first went to Russia specifically to rent the Mir Space Station, at a time when RSC Energia was legally allowed to rent it. The negotiations resulted in my group's funding 2 Progress flights, and one crewed mission (TM-30). The total cost was $40 million. For some time, I was the only point of contact between my group and Energia, so I had to get up to speed on Russian space station operations pretty quickly.

I left the group when they decide to operate Mir  rather than put it in a storage orbit, which was the original plan. So, I never worked for MirCorp.

Any chance of actually answering the specific questions that I posted earlier?

My reason for posting my questions the way I did is because nearly every post you make contradicts at least one previous post of yours!

For one company, NASA used to use my home address as the company headquarters in the early days, so I got all the mail.

Obviously,  this passage confused some people. "Early days" for my company, not NASA.

If you were the owner of a company you cannot be "self employed"!

A self-employed person does not work for a specific employer who pays them a consistent salary or wage. Self-employed individuals, or independent contractors, earn income by contracting with a trade or business directly.

In most cases, the payer will not withhold taxes, so this becomes the responsibility of the self-employed individual.

I apologize for using a vague term.

I was the only person involved in my company for some years.

Because that was the location of one of my companies, per NASA.

It appears in NASA documents for many years. I'll send you something via mail.

A one man company renting the MIR station?

Any chance of answering my point by point questions?

If you refuse to do so you will have next to no credibility (if you have any now) on this forum until you do so!

What do space specialists drink/smoke/vape/ or whatever?

Don't bother as I cannot reprint anything contained in a PM here.

If it is worth sending to me by PM it must surely be worth posting here!

I know quite a few space cadets......does that count?
