The rumor mill--- A few days after she disappeared. Her new husband left for Phuket, with a backpack and a suitcase and returned a couple of days later without the suitcase. She weighed around 90k. so was quite small.

Used not to be the case. In the old days people here with money kept a very low profile. Increasing Chinese influence changed all that, and showing off has become the norm.

Let them enjoy their momentum of consumerism, hedonism and materialism.

13 million Thai baht would not go far in Switzerland but for a Thai living in Thailand it’s a small fortune and if you go around spending it like no tomorrow then there would be a lot of jealousy amongst not just friends but also family . Maybe the police should check her bank account and see if, when and where money has been withdrawn  especially since she disappeared all ATMs  have camera’s ! Mystery solved

but why wouldn't you want to share with family?

why would you want to greedily hang on to it for yourself?

spend it on a lavish house with 15 rooms you don't need while relatives are struggling. that makes sense.

Because you have investments & can help those that matter with the occasional cash gift. Otherwise you become target number 1 and you refusal to help makes you unlocked by everybody. Grow some common sense.

Well, hopefully she just ran off with the money, and 13 million bt ain't so much by Western standards; still, I am reminded of that old Farang maxim "never be worth more dead than you are alive" .

So many possible outcomes to this scenario.  The new Swiss husband, the sister, other relatives, even the abbot of the nearby Wat could all be possible suspects.  Or maybe she just ran off with the money to start a new life somewhere else.

Doesn't sound like she has much left, just over 7m, and she made loans to 'Others' I'd be checking her gambling buddies to whom she may have loaned the money to. Still sound like she was being a loan shark to me.

If you're not worth more dead than alive, you're doing something wrong.

There was no suggestion, whatsoever, that she was a loan shark.

Not sure if this was hinting at that though?

So who was she lending others money to? a loan is normally repayable + interest. That is the definition of a loan. IMO that is a definite suggestion she is/was a loan shark. A loan is not a Gift.
