Ow shit! Shit SHIT!

Humble apologies quicksilva. Im an ass of the highest degree!

Actually, in a somewhat lame attempt at an excuse, i have dyslexia...and sometimes it trips me up. ###### hard getting the honours of a degree when you mix up things like b and d and cant read what is being asked of you half the time. (that was my next lame attempt on showing that although i have the ability to make huge errors on spelling and reading, im not actually stupid. :S ) Oh the shame of it all. I truly am embarressed by my error.

HUGE apologies quicksilva, my punch at clever sarcasm has punched me right back in the face!! SORRRRRRRRY!

I SERIOUSLY need that mediTation advice.

But tiggy, we don't care "why you think you know why",

We wanna know why?

Why?

This is becoming one of 'those' threads, isn't it?!?

No it's not. Why would a person want to know why they are thinking what they are thinking? People go through life blissifully unaware of what they are thinking let alone why they are thinking it, and they seem to get by fine. So, why ask why? Does knowing why you are thinking what you are thinking help you or others? Your thoughts won't effect anyone unless they become action or words, so is then the action you take more important then the thoughts before hand?

Just give me a minute to think about this thaibebop....I will get back to you!

:o

I think he's broadly saying that the question "Why?" is an overrated one, and used far too often.

SOme cutlures/languages don't have a word for "why".

I like that.

(Don't ask me why I like it. I just do. )

No no tigger...because I hoping i can have something answered. Im thinking that i dont know what i think. Seriously. I am pretty confused about where my judgement on things lie. To illustrate what i mean, you just have to view this thread: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?sh...15&start=15 (Oh, if anyone wishes to make a comment on what i said, can you do it here so the original thread stays on topic purty pleazzzzzzze! :D)

Well..its got me thinking..we all must have these personal bounderies that on occasion only make sense to ourselves. Where, when, and how do we set these bounderies? When is something considered inapproapriate or crossing the lines in our books? Also..why is it often dependent on mood, or is that also just something that is applicable to me? Do you find some days you can pass something off and be unaffected but others the thing said/seen/read hits a nerve and makes you upset/angry/etc?

Me very confused. Me feels like psychopath nut job. :D OH MammY! :o

Very good questions eek. I find myself wondering why on one day something sends me into a rage and on another day the thing just makes me groan and walk away. I have to think more on this.

Eek you sound like a good candidate for meditation.

Bebop, a still mind with no thoughts is difficult to describe. So I shall liken it to restarting your PC. You know when the CPU has far too many processes running its performance deteriorates to the point where you have to restart it just to get things done. When our mind has too many thoughts spinning around in it sometimes sleep patterns become disrupted, and performance at work degrades (multitasking isn't all that its cracked up to be).

Taking time out to restart and clear your mind helps.

I like the way you put that, very good indeed! :o

Eek has just demostrated what happens one one proceeds through life with a lack of thinking. Thank for that lesson of wise eek. :o

I think, that you all think to much. Take time out to think about that!

:o

I imagine we all know the expression "Mai Bpen Lai".

I think that when we are calm in our minds and hearts (after re-booting the PC?) we can more easily say, "Mai Bpen Lai".

When we are tired/frustrated/dicontent (when the PC is clogged up) we get more easily irritated (PC jams, fizzed explodes)

Don't perspire the wee itty bitty thingies... :o

Eek has just demostrated what happens one one proceeds through life with a lack of thinking. Thank for that lesson of wise eek. :o

Bah, tis pick on eek day! However, actually, it was all a ruse in order to demonstrate the point stated above. I hope you all benifit from the point made.

Well spotted thaibebop.

Reminds me of a song this thread does when I think about it....

Aretha Franklin

Think

Think (think) think (think) think (think)

think (think) think (think) think (think)

You better think (think) think about what you're trying to do to me

Yeah, think (think, think), let your mind go, let yourself be free

Let's go back, let's go back, let's go way on back when

I didn't even know you, you came to me and too much you wouldn't take

I ain't no psychiatrist, I ain't no doctor with degree

It don't take too much high IQ's to see what you're doing to me........

Your worst enemy cannot harm you as much

as your own unguarded thoughts.

Develop the mind of equilibrium.

You will always be getting praise and blame,

but do not let either affect the poise of the mind:

follow the calmness, the absence of pride.

Sutta Nipata

that touches some strings, CC.

Something I need to get back to improving.

Okay, I think the following is loosely related to the topic:

Why is it those with the most pride, be they celebrity, successful, wealthy, poor, arrogant, whatever they might be, are usually the ones who are least secure in their lives?

Good question.

Overcompensation?

But, do you always think its the case though? Arent some really just hugely arrogant, proud, etc, without having much insecurity?

Well, that lack of security was there before the pride, pride is just one way to cover that up, and sometimes the first for you can say to yourself and others that you are special because this is what you have done and you and others have pride in that accomplishment.
