Popular Post webfact Posted February 9, 2024 Popular Post Posted February 9, 2024 Former Move Forward Party leader Pita Limjaroenrat came forward to address the controversies surrounding his alleged Cambodian ancestry. In a recent Instagram post that captivated his 2.7 million followers, Pita shed light on his maternal grandmother, Anusri, and the intriguing connections within his family tree. Setting the record straight, Pita affirmed his grandmother’s birthplace as Bangkok, vehemently dismissing any claims of Cambodian descent. However, he did acknowledge that his grandmother had resided in Battambang for some time. The astute politician emphasised that he had never laid claim to being part of the prominent Abhaiwong family. In a heartfelt message shared on his Instagram account (@pita.ig), Pita explained the circumstances surrounding a picture he posted back in 2015, during his visit to Battambang. The photograph, featuring his beloved grandmother, was intended to pay homage to her memory. by Puntid Tantivangphaisal Photo courtesy of The Nation Full story: The Thaiger 2024-02-10 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Bobthegimp Posted February 9, 2024 Posted February 9, 2024 Read the article on this one. It sounds like he got caught out on a misleading post about his lineage. 4

The establishment loves to attack people who are not "100% Thai" when it suits, but that's fine because they are of Chinese descent. The Cambodians however are of little worth...... Unfortunately they dont see it they way most normal human beings do. 2 2 1

It's sometimes hard to fathom just how nuts some Thais are about their (fake) lineage and ancestry. We have a few amongst our staff at work. Completely brainwashed from an early age. 🤪 1 3

Siam occupied and dominated Angkor Wat and most of Northeastern Cambodia from the early 1400s until the French Colonial regime drove them out in the 19th century. Battambang had been the Siamese administrative center of the province. The fact that Pita's grandmother had once lived there - or even if she was born there - doesn't prove Khmer ancestry. Not that it would matter anyway. He made a mistake in making an issue of it. Tempest in a teapot. 7 2 1

matta01 Posted February 10, 2024 Posted February 10, 2024 Will re-read Charles Darwin's book the origin of species to see if there is a connection. It is amazing sometimes to read what some people are doing or thinking.
spidermike007 Posted February 10, 2024 Posted February 10, 2024 It wouldn't surprise me if there was a group of people that were leaking these sort of things in an effort to discredit him. Thailand is third only to Russia and Cambodia, when it comes to the elite and the powerful attempting to bring down the opposition. The major difference being that Navalny is now spending 20 years in prison due to Putin being the most corrupt politician on the planet.
jonclark Posted February 10, 2024 Posted February 10, 2024 And Taksin and Yingkucks grandmother was Chinese....

Sydebolle Posted February 10, 2024 Posted February 10, 2024 Is it not amazing to what extent political dirt-thrown-at-random can go? What has his grandmother's temporary stay in Battambang to do with his personal abilities? Even, if she would have been Cambodian, it would certainly not disqualify him from doing what he does today. Or have I misread the Thai constitution? Remember when they wanted to pee onto Abhisit Vejjajiva (former Thai PM) for the fact, that he was born in Wallsend, United Kingdom, which - by the dinosaurs - should disqualify him from being PM in Thailand? It was brought to a screeching end immediately and never touched again - for those in the know! 1
jippytum Posted February 10, 2024 Posted February 10, 2024 Only the people who fear Pita becoming more popular than Thaksin make a fuss about every non event trying to make a problem for him. 2

Will B Good Posted February 10, 2024 Posted February 10, 2024 Well it would make a pleasant change to have a Cambodian in charge.....the Chinese have totally ducked Thailand and the (poor) Thais. 1
Bday Prang Posted February 10, 2024 Posted February 10, 2024 What I find astonishing is how many on here seem to have taken to this guy, based basically on just two things, the words that come out of his mouth (forgetting that he is just another wannabe, very wealthy PM candidate, and just as capable of lying as any other politician) and the dislike and animosity shown to him by the established politicians. He is not going to improve things one iota for any foreigners living here, probably just the opposite, Don't let his bambi faced innocence fool you , he is not your friend, anymore than any of the others. 1 1
Thingamabob Posted February 10, 2024 Posted February 10, 2024 Nothing shocking. Ridiculous headline. 1
