Phuket officials ban sun lounges and alcohol from Freedom Beach

Again.

 

Alcohol and sun lounges are being banned from Phuket’s Freedom Beach, again. Often described as a “secret” beach, given its hideaway location between the larger beaches of Patong and Karon.

 

The Bangkok Post reports that provincial officials and park authorities will conduct regular patrols on Freedom Beach, again, with a particular focus on ending the sale of alcohol, and the renting of sun lounges, on the beach.

 

Chalermpong Saengdee, an MP from the Move Forward Party says patrols will also involve officials from the Royal Forestry Department. A meeting was held yesterday, February 12, to discuss measures aimed at eliminating vendors from the beauty spot.

The article says sale of alcohol is not allowed.

 

The article says renting of sun loungers is not allowed.

 

Nothing to stop you taking your alcohol and a chair there with you.

 

Then you may drink the alcohol and sit upon your chair.

So where you come from anyone can build a shack start to sell alcohol, food and rent out sun lounges without permits to do so?

Freedom beach, is it actually a public beach like they all should be or is it a mafia beach that charges to be on their beach 555555, when its actually a public beach. The beach between Rawai & Karon there is a charge ? the navy or army have been to visit them twice over many years, they need to go again ??????

What happened to the 10% rule at Kata?  I'm not sure how bad other beaches are, but Kata is certainly not only occupying 10% of the public spaces.
