Pit Bull Breeder Killed By His Dogs In His Backyard, Police Say

Complex
Tue, February 20, 2024

A Los Angeles-based Pit Bull breeder met a violent end when he was killed by his dogs in his backyard.

Per KTLA, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department responded to a call from a friend of the deceased who discovered his body at around 7 a.m. local time on Friday, February 16. According to investigators, the attack on the man is suspected to have happened the previous evening. "He was feeding the dogs at which point maybe there was an altercation between some of the dogs and [they] ultimately attacked and mauled the victim," said the LASD Homicide Bureau's Michael Gomez.

The 35-year-old, who has not been identified, was said to live alone and died in one of the kennels on his property after bleeding out. Authorities confirmed there were five adult dogs in the backyard alongside eight puppies, all of whom were agitated as responding officers, firefighters, and the L.A. County Animal Care & Control department attempted to recover each of the dogs individually.

If doggies are so nice and loving why do they have to be trained to behave themselves in the first place? Thier nature is predatory hunters, why anyone wants any breed of these disgusting animals is a mystery. They are not fur babies, guard dogs, guide dogs and sniffers aside they are mostly pests. Of course it will be- it's not the dogs it's the owners again, or he must have provoked them!

Dog owners don't kill people, dogs do.

Yes, they need to be illegal everywhere, far to dangerous to be pets or near people, XL bullies as well along with a few other breeds high on the attack stats.

Another clueless backyard breeder.

Great dogs. Mine is currently watching (supervising) the builders doing our extension.

Such a good boy. Handsome too

They are atrocious dogs, and have no place in civilized society. They should be limited to Russia, North Korea, and Yemen!

Agree! On the subject of guns, in this case, only one is needed together with a marksman.

So good it is just watching them from inside a cage? Why can't it wander around and play with the builders? My dog can, and does.

And anyone who says they are handsome is deluded. I am a dog lover (and a dog owner) but pitbulls are fugly as hell.

Too many sharp objects, power tools etc. lying around. Every responsible owner knows that, I'd have thought it was obvious. Not good to have him trying to play with them while they are drilling, cutting etc.

Plus he keeps falling asleep in the holes they are digging before they can finish them.

"Dribble" comes from the dogs.  Drivel comes from people writing or speaking about it.

Not a great idea having dogs running around when builders are using power tools. What sort of owner are you, deluded?

If your pitbull is such a good boy why is he locked in a cage and has a heavy duty collar on him?

Maybe not ,but then I don't agree with having dogs in cages either. (But in the case of pitbulls that's probably the best place for them, permanently)

Let's imagine for a moment the builders weren't using power tools. Would it be able to wander around and play with them, or would you still lock it in a cage?

Because of builders tools, apparently.

Guess I, along with the millions of other hunters and target gun shooters, are all idiots, at least to the ill informed. Guns by themselves do not kill anything. It's a tool, used for hunting, protection, and to rid the earth of those that kill innocent people. The same goes for knives, machetes, saws, bricks, hammers, baseball bats, pieces of wood and metal, forks, pencils and pens, and a myriad of other useful tools that people have used to kill others. You could kill a person with a Durian if you hit them in the head, but these things cannot be outlawed. Guns could be outlawed, but they will still be manufactured for the military and police forces, and by private citizens, which means they will find their way into the hands of maniacs. This topic though is about pit bulls. These, along with other dogs, have the ability to kill, IF they aren't properly trained since birth. I do agree on ownership of these though, because incidents like this have happened all along with breeds that have the biting power and strength to kill. These types of breeds should not be in families with small children, or in packs. One dog by itself isn't usually a problem. It's the pack mentality, the same as when crowds get together and start riots. One starts, the others follow. There is a pit that stays near the dog that took up residence at my house, and he is very strong, as I've seen him fight other dogs. He is very gentle to me and I still am wary of him, although he has never shown aggression towards me or others here. He just chases others way from the female dog at my house.

Its not a collar, its a harness. Harnesses are more comfortable for big dogs (of any breed) when walking.

Plus it makes him a super handsome guy.......

It is alleged that the man was breeding fighting dogs.

You keep him in a cage and you says he's very good, I wouldn't want to be in your place.

I would have thought that was obvious.:coffee1:

There are builders there working with power tools. What type of irresponsible owner lets a dog walk around a building site in such circumstances?

The cage is elevated a few inches from the floor with perforated flooring, allowing airflow underneath him and keeping him nice and cool and away from dirt, ants and other irritants.

He hasn't got a heavy duty collar. It's called a harness and prevents skin issues around the neck in hot/humid climates.

Maybe best you avoid dogs altogether with such a lack of knowledge/responsibility.

Out of respect for the builders I would put him in the cage anyway. Not everyone likes dogs trying to play with them when they are trying to work.

Plus it's cool and clean in there, he often goes in there by himself when the door is left open.

Dogs have been domesticated long before you were on this planet, and will long after.

No dogs should be 'bred for profit' and absolutely not 'bred for fighting.'

Fighting breeds need to be phased out asap. Worldwide.

But in GENERAL dogs are man's best friend!
