Social Media
A recent Politico Magazine/Ipsos poll released on Monday reveals a resounding rejection of former President Trump's legal argument advocating for presidential immunity from criminal prosecution. The survey, conducted among a sample of 1,024 U.S. adults online from March 8 to March 10, highlights a significant majority of Americans who oppose Trump's stance on presidential immunity. According to the poll results, a striking 70 percent of respondents dismiss Trump's assertion of presidential immunity, with only a mere 11 percent supporting the idea. The remaining 18 percent of participants expressed uncertainty on the matter. Notably, the rejection of the presidential immunity argument transcends partisan lines, as observed by the breakdown of responses across political affiliations. Even among Republicans, a plurality of 48 percent reject the notion of presidential immunity, while only 24 percent support it. A notable 27 percent of Republicans remain undecided on the issue. Meanwhile, an overwhelming majority of Democrats (92 percent) and independents (75 percent) oppose presidential immunity, with only a negligible percentage expressing support for it. The upcoming Supreme Court hearing on Trump's presidential immunity claim, scheduled for April, has garnered significant attention. The case pertains to allegations by special counsel Jack Smith that the former president conspired to overturn the results of the 2020 election. With the Supreme Court's decision expected by the end of June, legal experts anticipate a rejection of Trump's immunity argument, which would pave the way for Smith's prosecution to proceed. Both Trump's trial judge and a three-judge panel on the District of Columbia Circuit Court of Appeals have already rebuffed the presidential immunity argument, emphasizing that former presidents should not be shielded from criminal prosecution indefinitely. The D.C. Circuit panel's decision underscored that Trump, now a private citizen, should be subject to the same legal scrutiny as any other individual accused of criminal offenses. As the legal battle unfolds, the sentiment reflected in the Politico poll underscores a widespread belief among Americans that no individual, regardless of their previous position of power, should be above the law. The rejection of presidential immunity highlights a commitment to accountability and the principle that justice should apply equally to all citizens. 20.03.24 Source

We've survived 289 years without debating Presidential Immunity. It's baked into our DNA as U.S. Citizens. The President is not a King or Queen. The President is not above the Law. I'm shocked the figure isn't closer to 90%. The very idea of the power and the right of the people to establish government presupposes the duty of every individual to obey the established government. https://avalon.law.yale.edu/18th_century/washing.asp 2 2 1
Popular Post Danderman123
There isn't a lot of support for presidential immunity among the Trump fans here - they seem to understand that it's just a delay tactic by Trump's lawyers. The Trump fans don't have much to say here, so they just whine about Biden. 2 1

So you think a majority of Americans supports presidential immunity from prosecution. But this can not be accomplished by polls and is instead accomplished by what? 1 1

Popular Post spidermike007
I'm innocent, I'm always innocent, well maybe I'm guilty, but it doesn't matter I'm immune. I'm immune to anything, remember what I said about 5th Avenue, that applies to anything. I can get away with anything, so why are they even trying to charge me? I'm Donald, you can't charge Donald. 1 3 1 1

Speaking of haters..... You prefer unemployment, like the 6.8% trump left? You prefer Recession like trump left, rather than the most robust growth since the late 1990s? You prefer key microchips be made in Taiwan, China and South Korea? You like dangerous roads, bridges and a power grid that makes North Korea look good? You would prefer a tumbling 401K (if you have any money)? If you are going to bring up the border, consider who blocked the most comprehensive Immigration reform ever, written largely by a conservative Republican. (Hint: it wasn't Joe) The latest polls released yesterday show Biden in the lead again, though pools in March mean little. trump is likely to be in jail come 2025, and almost surely broke. 2 2 2 3
Popular Post Walker88
This immunity question is a lose-lose for trump. If struck down, trump will have to face the music and be tried for all his crimes. If upheld, Biden can have trump killed. 2 1 1 1 1

You’re even more delusional than one could ever imagine, Complete BS with nothing back it up. As much as I despise the CIA, I can completely understand you’re no longer part of that organization. They dumped you. Without a doubt. If there are more like you in the CIA, a complete overhaul is long overdue. 4 1 1 1
