A large team of law enforcement officers gathered at Central Pattaya Beach and held a parade of vehicles yesterday, April 3rd, in a move to deter crime and make tourists feel safe ahead of the upcoming Songkran festival.

The operation, dubbed “Safe Songkran, Happy Pattaya”, is in line with the government’s and the Royal Thai Police’s policies to ensure public safety and security during Songkran.

The rally was presided over by Pol. Lt. Gen. Akradet Pimonsri, Deputy National Police Chief, featuring more than 300 police officers from 23 police stations as well as several police vehicles. Other than the parade, the rally also included a police march.

Crime figures must have gone through the roof whilst they were all parading up and down.

I remember being on Khaosan Road....1996?.....there was some fuss about car bombs....the police were all stood to attention in the street, about 50 of them.....when four men rounded the corner pushing a broken down car.....the police made way and let them push the car through their ranks and down Khaosan.....you couldn't write this stuff.

For their kind information, crime is becomming a real plague in Sin City and all the year around.

First time I have seen a photo including a Smart BMW pickup.

What's with the sand coloured uniforms some of the officers are wearing?
