Following the news that regulations requiring tax residents to pay personal income tax on income brought into Thailand from overseas may soon start being enforced, an event due to be held in Hua Hin in May aims to provide up to date information on the situation.

The event will feature industry leading experts and notably, and expert from Thailand’s Revenue Department, who will aim to provide some clarity on the latest tax implications, in particular with regards to personal income tax for people residing in Thailand.

The event is free to attend and should not be missed by anyone who is potentially affected by the issue.

Are there similar events for Thais as they are equally affected by the " new" rules that may be coming, probably more so as larger amounts are likely to be involved?

Just a wild guess, even with the expert from Thai revenue there will be just as much confusion after the event about what is going on as there is now!

Like in the 90s, not even a link to the live stream. What.

Maybe contact the Companies who are hosting the event and ask them.  Do something positive rather than carp and criticize.

There is little question this would be a useful event to attend, but attendees should understand it is sponsored by a Thai firm of accountants/legal/tax advisors who also propose and sell financial investments. Exactly what level of person will attend form the TRD is unclear, as is whether that person will be able to provide greater clarity than has already been provided.

I'm guessing this might be a cause of even more confusion. Why not invite ex-astronauts, ex-greengrocers and T-shirt stall holders to speak to provide a counter narrative. In which language will this congress be held? Will there be a translation? Simultaneous or post facto?

for the first, even the revenue does TILL NOW know the end rules😃😃😃😃😃 for the second, this is actual one of the best info

According to the flyer at the bottom of the link the guy (name and picture shown) is a "Tax Audit Officer Senior Professional Level".........whatever that means...........

I would suggest that you've got your finger on the button.

I wouldn't expect that any guest speaker (likely paid to attend and speak) will offer any specific clarity on official TRD policy.  If the speaker could then it would be official TRD policy in the public domain announced by official government channels.

Who is able to discuss about these rules, not an expert, only between high officials from the concerned governments and about sure dubbele taxation.

This is the point.

Will they speak English?

again, experts, agents, rd officials - will tell maybe what the current situation is, what seems maybe, what seems impossible, or whatever - nothing new as far as I am concerned. The final government paper stating the exact new rules, who is responsible for doing exactly what with the funds remitted what the funds are or are not...until then another several hundred people guessing what these people think in my opinion.

Since it's being advertised in English and one of the key patrons in British, I guess the answer must almost certainly be yes.

Everything loosey goosey as usual.

Can't wriggle later if you don't give yourself wriggle room now.

I wonder how the Thai rich are going to avoid all this.

anyone on here fancy going and reporting back to everyone else?

I could go if you like, I'll see if George wants to pay expenses from Chiang Mai, I'd need a few days either side, to prepare and then write up notes.....I'm not hopeful! 🙂

An excellent idea though, if anyone is local and would care to go, I would be very grateful.

does no expat dares to buy any condo anymore being afraid of being taxed 35% on top of the transfer fees and bad exchange rate ?  35% tax is about 20 years of interest a bank would give you for your money

Don't forget to sign in if you attend.  Other information like home address, personal income and bank accounts will also be requested/required.

Mr tax man will contact you in due course... Purely to answer any other questions you may have.

It's being run by a private company, not by the Thai Revenue.

I am about to buy another and have sent some additional money over. The money however is not earned income for any period which may be of concern to Thais and so no tax return or explanation will be volunteered or given.

Sounds like a bandwagon jump. An opportunity to sell some products
