Popular Post snoop1130
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) plans to launch a unique project to spark tourism during the slow season. The project will highlight 72 top activities that visitors to the nation must take part in. The project also aims to honor King Vajiralongkorn's sixth cycle birthday anniversary on July 28, according to TAT governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool. The activities range from the energetic Muay Thai experience and mouth-watering food tours to engaging cultural adventures and lively local fashion shows. "We are working with private companies to run extensive campaigns to boost local tourism. Our efforts will include supporting tour bus companies, promoting educational trips, and encouraging government workers to travel locally," said Thapanee. She stressed the importance of the Middle East as a crucial market, and discussed plans to increase the number of flights from there due to the region's love for Thai travel, even during the rainy season. Despite geopolitical concerns, she reaffirmed the stability of Thai tourism. Responding to the attraction of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, TAT is also planning a special program for European visitors. These tourists can watch the games live while enjoying Thailand's tropical beauty. Moving forward, the TAT is targeting Chinese tourists for the National Day festivities in October. The festivals will be held in scenic locations such as Yaowarat Road, the Hat Yai District of Songkhla, Phuket, and Ratchaburi. An optimistic Governor of the TAT predicts a rise in foreign arrivals to 39 million this year, exceeding their goal by a significant amount. This increase in tourists is expected to inject a huge 3.5 trillion baht into the economy and will align perfectly with the government's strategic plan. File photo for reference only. Middle Aged Grouch
And mainly how to avoid the official taxi and tuk tuk cheats. Always write down the price you see on the menu someplace or take a pic. Cause in many restaurants when the check arrives, strangely the total price does not match the total you can sum up via the menu. Of course no problem for those who love being cheated and want to feel posh by not asking. But for the others, always a good idea to see if the restaurant tries to "make a mistake". Not to mention the cheating from the tailors who show you a specific type of cloth quality but when it is stiched, (usually for suits) one can feel that the quality is not really the same as the bare cloth shown on the order (always ask for a decent size sample before and say it's to consult with your great grand uncle who is is the hotel and did not come...😆). In the girlie bars, never, never let the tab add up. You order, you pay straight away. And watch as how they frown as they will understand fast that you cannot be cheated out at the end, when half boozed !!! 1

Sigmund
How can they ever dream of boosting tourism and continue to make so much fuss on visa requrements even for those wanting just to spend 4 or 5 months per year ? like those 90 day reportings, having to trudge to immigration if you own a condo or a house and have friends comming over to stay, having to report your residence each time you arrive in your place that you foolishly purchased years ago and so on.... You will be driven in controlled groups to visit sites and pay the foreigner entrance fee and not permitted to leave the country until all venues are recorded. Reminds me of an unscheduled tour of Moscow I was 'obliged' to take in the late '70s. 😀 1
