Thaksin's lawyer also a  convicted criminal should be banned from being an MP never mind being promoted to the cabinet.Birds of a feather stick together.

The acting senators, who lodged the petition, believe that Srettha's decision to appoint Pichit as a minister is not only ethically questionable but also indicative of deeper issues within the administration.

How very hypocritical of the group of senators who were appointed by a previous PM to whine, when the current PM does the same thing and appoints somebody to a post.

Who really cares what they think or say, as they are only (well paid) seat warmers anyway.

How good is that.

Hypocrites they are , this means that any Crim from an other country can come to Thailand  Because they don't Recognise the crims verdicts from an other country.  🤣

Exactly which we all know is just convenient BS when it suits them!

"The petition centres on Pichit Chuenban, a controversial figure with a tainted past. In 2008, Pichit, who had served as a lawyer for the then-deposed Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, was caught attempting to deliver a two-million-baht bribe hidden in food bags to Supreme Court officials. This led to his conviction and a six-month jail sentence."

and let's not forget who was suppling the lunch boxes.

Just a reminder

MFP and it's coalition won simple majority in the House over opposing coalitions but not 51% of the House ministers. Under pre-2014 military coup that simple majority was sufficient. But the military junta's 2019 Constitution allowed the Senate to add its 250 Senator votes to the House votes And so with a Senate appointed by the junta, the MFP coalition was denied control of the government.

The mind boggles, this puts Thailand at the level of African countries like Gabon. Under Bongo this sort of things was common place, but 30 years ago.

He never seems to be in the country. Likes taking trips constantly to Europe and doesn't seem to do much for the country or people here .

How did he get the job again ? 🙄🙈

People in this government are only making deals for themselves !, whatever they do, will always be in there own interest ! And Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin al the lover of Thaksin's sister Yingluk, will look for the Thaksin family's interests as well !!!.

Sheesh, you get convicted for just one lousy bribery offense and people act like they can't trust you any more!  What's the world coming to?

Ah, but he was not convicted of bribery, just contempt of court. That's a much less serious offence. As to why he was only charged with contempt that's another matter. But still seriously lacking in ethics required for an MP let alone a cabinet minister.

I note they bring this up while the PM is overseas...wasn't Thaksin overseas when the military overthrew him? Will the constitutional court act in record speed so that the soon to be departed senators can bring in the "right" PM, one that is left over from the junta's govt?

Prayuth was better.

True, but that´s a pretty low bar!

I suspect that the average tuk-tuk driver could do a better job than the current fellow.

I knew this was coming next. His attacks on the Cannabis industry are highly unpopular. It’s going to get worse, and pile on.

Today, a significant political development unfolded as a group of 40 acting senators petitioned the Constitutional Court to consider impeaching Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin.

I wonder how much money they will collectively lose when cannabis is re-criminalized?  🤔  Wondering for a friend.

He announced 2 weeks ago that he was going close down the weed business,  reclassifying a huge percentage of Thai's as crooks after having invested their lives savings into an exciting new business opportunity selling a relatively harmless plant.

So all those honest Thai's, who had being doing everything by the book, now face potential ruin from a person who apparently has no problems overlooking the bribing of the highest courts in the land.
