A Thai woman from Pattaya has become a social media sensation after sharing her hilarious encounter with a sleepy taxi driver online. The woman posted a video on TikTok on May 21, 2024, sharing how she had to drive a taxi to Don Mueang International Airport at 3 AM due to the driver falling asleep.

 

The woman and her friend called a cab in the early hours, and they noticed the driver looked tired while behind the wheel. Things took a turn when the driver actually fell asleep during the journey. This led the woman to ask politely if she could drive instead.

 

In the video, it's clear that the driver allowed the woman to take over and moved to the back seat for some much-needed sleep. The peculiar journey was recorded and posted on TikTok by the woman's friend, who humorously added, "We drove ourselves from Pattaya to Don Mueang Airport, with the driver sleeping soundly behind us."

 

 

The video has drawn a lot of attention on TikTok. Many admired the woman's quick thinking, while others criticized the driver's lack of professionalism. As of now, it's unclear if there'll be any legal repercussions for the sleeping driver or whether his actions breached any laws.

Well if from Pattaya at 3am you'd have to take the very long route in order to still be driving in such BROAD DAYLIGHT as shown in the photo! Looks like well into daylight, to me!

I've done it twice.  First time the driver was nodding off every 30 seconds.  Second time I was convinced the driver was legally blind and driving so slowly that trucks were over taking him. Both drivers had a kip in the back seat.

I did that from Krabi to Kanchanaburi when I saw him start loosing his focus. Never seen a happier man who woke up after 10 hours in Kanchanaburi and got paid for sleeping for solid 8 hours. 

Safety first Thailand.. 

It's probably all a good joke to the locals and those involved, when in reality such a tired driver could kill people on the motorway. 

Not a comforting thought for tourists.

He woke up when she told him to pay the metered fare.

Kudos to the woman, realizing the idiot was putting their lives at risk, and discarding the normal Thai routine of ignoring injustice, got into the driving seat, where she belongs.

 

Safe journey, Madam.
