In a disturbing incident yesterday, a foreign man, appearing in his late 40s to early 50s, assaulted a petrol pump attendant in Udon Thani.

 

Captured on CCTV, the man, who had a large build, was seen walking directly towards the attendant, slapping his face and engaging in a scuffle. The incident has left the attendant with a swollen face and some damaged property.

 

The altercation happened around 7:00 AM in a petrol station within the municipal area. The attendant, 25-year-old Mr. Jirawat, reported to the police with the CCTV footage.

 

He stated that the foreigner initially drove up in a new car, threw trash on the ground, and upon being questioned by the cashier, yelled in the local Isaan dialect, asking "What's the problem?" while claiming to be part of the immigration department.

 

 

 

Unaware of what "immigration" (in local vernacular, "ตม.") meant, the cashier ignored his claims. The man then pretended to want petrol, but when asked to open the fuel cap, refused and instead parked near the exit. He returned on foot and assaulted the attendant seemingly without any provocation.

 

 

Ms. Ma'am, a female staff member, observed that the man seemed familiar with Thai local culture and language, suggesting he might have been residing in Thailand for a while. She also noted that he appeared intoxicated since he nonchalantly posed for the camera as she recorded his vehicle’s licence plate.

 

The police have sent the injured attendant for a medical examination to support the legal case. They plan to call in the victim and witnesses for further questioning before issuing a summons for the foreign national implicated in the assault. This incident has sparked concerns over the behaviour of foreign residents and the need for stringent checks to ensure public safety.

The culprit here clearly takes lesson on 'face-saving' from the esteemed Maj Gen Dr Rienthong Nanna, the director of Mongkutwattana Hospital. I do hope the Maj Gen will also be subject to stringent checks to ensure future public safety at his hospital.

So, you choose to see everything like an isolated incident, right? You have totally missed that it´s not only one intoxicated lunatic, but almost 1 per day. At the moment there are too many foreigners behaving like 5h1t in Thailand. And MO, they are not going to issue ant special ID. If you just think little bit, you will surely understand that entering Thailand and getting visa will be harder in the long run, just because of these dorks. Let´s just hope that the guy does not own a British pass port. 😉

Germans - crimes that involve being naked and making asses out of themselves, sometimes get in trouble for being arrogant complainers

 

Brits - violent drunk hooligans, will try to fight locals, other falangs and/or water buffalo. The worst of all blue collar segments world wide

 

Americans - ignorance of the world often gets them into trouble with cultural aspects, with an occasional true homicidal psychopath appearing in the news

 

Aussies - too dumb to really get noticed and more often than not make the news because they Darwin'd themselves to death in some sort of stupid manner.

A shocking incident unfolded at a PTT gas station in Udon Thani Province as 25 year old gas station worker was allegedly assaulted by a drunk foreigner, who claimed to be an immigration worker.

 

The incident transpired at a PTT station on Udon Dusit Road in Mak Khaeng subdistrict, Mueang Udon Thani district, recounted the incident and provided photographic and video evidence of the assailant.

 

The altercation took place around 6.50am, May 22, while Jirawat Sunthorn, known as Tum, was attending to customers, a foreign man, estimated to be between 45 to 50 years old, arrived in a new SUV with Udon Thani license plates.

 

The man was described as having white skin, a large build, and a bald head. He appeared to be intoxicated, and recklessly discarded garbage from his vehicle, prompting Tum to instruct a cashier to address the situation.

The drunk foreigner, agitated by Tum’s intervention, responded in Thai with a northeastern accent, claiming to be “Tormor,” an abbreviation for immigration police in Thai.

Despite attempts by the cashier to defuse the situation, the foreigner proceeded to the gas pump to refuel.

 

Tum approached the vehicle to assist but was met with hostility as the foreigner, engrossed in a phone call, neglected to open the fuel tank cap, resulting in Tum’s refusal to refuel his vehicle.

 

In retaliation, the foreigner parked near the exit and approached Tum, striking him twice on the right side of his face and once on his left arm, causing visible swelling and dislodging Tum’s wristwatch.

In a bid to intervene, the cashier stepped in but was also subjected to physical assault, receiving a blow to the head.

 

Following the altercation hurled insults at both the workers, before quickly taking off. heading towards the Nong Khai Bypass Intersection.

 

In response to the incident, Tum lodged a formal complaint at the Mueang Udon Thani Police Station the same day.

 

Another gas station employee, 45 year old Sirikarn Parawong captured video footage of the altercation, and expressed profound shock at the incident, highlighting the dignity of working as a gas station attendant and condemning the unwarranted violence.

 

Authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter, with Tum undergoing a medical examination at Udon Thani Hospital for documentation purposes.

 

Witnesses will be summoned to provide detailed statements, and efforts are underway to locate and charge the alleged assailant, reported Khaosod.

oh dear  '     a stupid knucklehead farang ....   I give him 24 hrs before he's arrested and charged.  Netizens will want his visa cancelled and want him charged and deported.   

 

So now because of this one publicized incident of a nutcase foreigner,   more stringent checks are needed to ensure locals are safe. 

 

Can we have more stringent checks on Thais to ensure tourists are safe at the same time. '  I'm tired of dodging all the nutters every time I go out ...         I didn't think so ....

I see, yeah foreigners in all countries get a bad deal. Maybe worse in Thailand as they don't get on the first rung of the hierarchal social ladder, unlike pump attendants.

Pump attendants are waaay above white foreigners on the social ladder here - even the Burmese pump attendants are higher than whities.  Both however are a million miles away from the elevated position of nigh untouchability of the good Maj Gen.

 

So whilst old baldy here will get crucified for a minor skuffle (aka a misunderstanding using the Thai vernacular here)  - the Maj Gen will have no consequence for stripping a 14 year boy naked and kicking him in the head twice (for smoking a ciggie). 

 

Honestly the 'dance' between the foreigner and pump attendant is much ado about nothing tbh. Why its on the news is anyones guess?  unless public opinion is being molded by someone?
