So long ago can't even remember the writing very well. Back then it seemed the place was filled with foreigners doing jobs they weren't good enough to get hired to do back home. So he probably fit in quite well amongst the crowd if his writing wasn't that great. There were a number of underwhelming foreign fictional writers back then as well.
