2 appointments: tooth removal and filling printed on a receipt for another removal.
Mine were for taking a mold and putting the dentures in.

Did you only submit an appointment slip?

  • I think you've misunderstood.   It's a multi-entry visa. This means that you get 180 days each time you enter the country whilst the visa remains valid.

Looks good, might be an alternative to a retirement VISA/extension. Stay 180 days, extend once (assuming 1,900bht), border hop, rinse and repeat. Averaging 3,900bht/year. Around the sam

I'm scheduled for a dental checkup+ cleaning and a separate appointment for a tooth crown procedure. Would that be sufficient for a DTV?

Some reports indicate "yes" - but it varies based on where you apply, and hard to predict if/when they change what is deemed acceptable.   if applying in Laos, can return Visa-Exempt from there w/o issue, if the DTV doesn't work out.

There are two reports in another topic, now closed, about lightening-fast approvals of 90-day reports:

I applied a week ago using almost exactly what you described, I just added another appointment for a checkup after 95 days. The status changed from pending document check to pending approval after just 4 business days. So I may have a good answer for you very soon.

DTV approved today.  I applied at the Chicago Consulate last Saturday. So I got it on the 6th business day. I had a friend go to our Dentist and set up the appointments for me and get the slips.  Had to send her back to get them on proper slips like a receipt. She then just sent me a picture of the slips.  I set up appointments for a teeth cleaning and then 2 for a crown, with another check-up appointment 95 days later.  If anyone wants to go that route, just make sure it's a proper slip with the Dental places name and the Doctors name with the appointments.  Not sure if the check-up down the road was necessary but it worked great!!

Usually they want you to go in for a checkup before they schedule a crown or other procedure.

Guys what is the approval time for the DTV in Vientiane? In other words how many days should I book a hotel there?

I think it was mentioned once or twice in the thread but the thread is 50 pages long now.

Any other tips for this Vientiane trip from people that did it are appreciated. I used to do Savannakhet non-o but never done this one.

I will be sure to post my experience here in a few weeks.

Thanks.

For the 500,000 baht in your bank account. Does that money have to have been there for X months? Or can I simply transfer 500,000 baht to a bank account today, get a bank account statement and then apply for the visa tomorrow?

they don't care. It doesn't need to be seasoned

Ok great. My current passport needs to be renewed next year. Since the visa is 5 years. How do you go about transferring the visa to your new passport once you get a new passport?

You can't transfer the visa itself. If it's a classic sticker visa (Vientiane and Savannakhet don't issue eVisas yet), you'll need to carry both your then canceled passport with the visa and your new passport for as long as the visa will remain valid to re-enter Thailand on that visa.

You might want to consider getting your new passport before applying for a 5-year visa.

All the information is on their website. Including booking your appointment and how long it takes to process.

Any positive reports of getting a DTV at Savannakhet as of yet.

Also any idea on the processing time here or should I bank on it being the same as Vientiane.

They have a website that tells how long the processing time is.

Hi everyone!

Quick question, I applied for the dtv myself a few weeks ago and provided additional documents on Friday. I am pretty confident it will be approved and would like to apply for my son and his mother to whom I am not married even though we've been living together more than 10 years. I am french she is japanese we are applying from France, online. Do you guys think it is possible to get it for her using proofs that we live together and the birth certificate of our son?

Thank you

No chance at all, in my opinion.

With all other visas and and with extensions of stay, immigration regulations clearly spell out that the relationship has to be de jure, ie legally registered, and I see no reason why embassies and consulates would not apply this to the DTV, but it will do no harm if you inquire at the Thai embassy in France about this.

It's taken a few weeks already and you haven't received the DTV or a rejection yet? Seems like some red flags have been raised. My DTV was issued less than a week after the initial application through the eVisa website with an enter date put down about 2 months in the future. It also seems everyone else here have gotten theirs also in about a week or less.

3 business days for approval in Vientiane. Need 500K THB in an account for 3 months plus 3-6 months statements. Dec 20 is last day for walk in applications. Laos will move to Evisa applications Jan 1, 2025

I am planning to spend around 140 days in Thailand on this particular entry on the DTV then go back to Europe for a month. I am weighing up the 90-day notification options. I will not be able to do it online as I am not in the 90-day notification database.

Option 1. Border bounce. I can't think of a good reason to go to Laos or Malaysia but perhaps it will come to me. How much is a border run by van to Cambodia from Pattaya these days?

Option 2. Ignore it. I don't think this is a good plan. You never know when you will need a bit of paper from Immigration.

Option 3. Do the 90-day notification which involves all the document collation, going down to Jomtien and opening up the Pandora's box of going into Immigration.

What do you advise?

This, or pay an agent to do it for you - is what I would do.  Much cheaper and less-hassle than a border-bounce trip.

I wouldn't see this as a red flag. In Europe it seems to take longer than in Asia.

Rejection because of formalities is usually quick in my experience, about 1-2 weeks.

If no response for longer, then they will probably approve it, might just ask for minor paperwork, in my case certificate from my client that I'm allowed to work for them in Thailand.

Honestly, I would go with option 2.

A border bounce is going to cost you more than the 2000 baht fine.  And if you leave after 140 days and come back, there's a decent chance that no one will ever notice you skipped your 90 day report and it'll never come up again.  But even if it does, it's just going to be a 2000 baht fine.  I think rolling the dice is the better option.

Is it confirmed 90 day reports are needed on DTV?

What is the issue with doing a regular 90 day report? Is this an issue everyone has or I must be misunderstanding the post?

90-day reports are required for DTV holders who stay in Thailand for more than 90 days. Nothing special about this, indeed.

I plan on just ignoring it.  I don't see any reason to bother doing it as I am sure I will never need anything from imigration.

When applying in Laos do you:

1 - List permanent address in Laos as your guesthouse and provide the booking

2 - List it as the western country you're from originally. Haven't lived there for over a decade. All I have to show is a drivers licence.

3 - Thai address. Current rental contract or tabian ban. I'm guessing this is a big no no even though for most people it is the truthful answer.

I would go with the Western country address.

Before you go applying in Laos, have you read the Vientiane Embassy web site? There bookings are full until the end of the year, after which they're taking no further bookings and all further visa applications will need to be done via eVisa.
