Leaving Thailand on the same day my visa entry ends

Featured Replies

Hi all,

We just booked a flight from Bkk to Europe, departure 28 this month.

My current visa entry allowed me to stay until 28th.

I'm on multiple 1 year non-o valid till August.

I'm thinking about a bounce to Lao (easy border in Loei province) before 28th to get 90 days more to avoid overstay if the flight is delayed, canceled, or whatever could happen.

My question is more like a poll:

1. Is that a bit paranoid ?

2. Is it the secured way to choose, a plan B to avoid additionnal problems in case of problems ?

And finally, can you get an extension in Suvarnaphum ?

Thanks!

No you can't. Your realistic options are those you've listed, either do a border bounce for a new 90-day entry or hope for the best.

I think it's quite reasonable to expect that your flight will leave on the day it's scheduled to leave, so personally, I wouldn't bother with a border bounce. But if it helps you have peace of mind, go for it.

Hi, thanks for your answer.

I will correct the typo you point out in my initial post : 30 days -> 90 days

It's perfectly normal to fly out on same date as "entry until" stamp.

I used to always book a flight the day before my stamp expiry, 5 years ago I said stuff it and have since always flown out on last day

That would be crazy.

Worst case with delayed/cancelled flight would be small overstay at airport.

One day would not even be fined.

Longer it's 500b per day and first day will be counted

If the worst happened, Immigration would know when you'd booked your flight, and that it had been cancelled or moved.  You'd have that evidence.

i dont think you need to get another extension or another 90 days.

i never seen a flight delay more then 20min tbh.

1 day overstay is 500 baht. sometimes they dont even take 1 day they just let you go. also you can explain the situation at the immigration with the proof.
