That would be a cruel and unusual punishment, and most probably against their human rights.

It would also be a great idea.

Yeah, like that's gonna bring people over to their delusional way of thinking

The general public are actually well on-board with the idea of saving the planet.

The basic concept behind your analysis is correct, however;  stunts like this aren't likely to get anybody new on board. They are doing far more damage to the cause than good. They only serve give a platform for the climate-change denier nut jobs to spout their nonsense.

Terrible strategy. Dangerous strategy. Damaging strategy.

Just stop just stop oil....

That's precisely what I meant! The irony is, the places these people live in are literally filled with <deleted> made from plastic, so are a lot of their clothes, their sneakers, their cute little warning vests, their phones, their computers, the tires on their bicycles and oh-so-eco-friendly e-scooters etc, but then they protest against oil! These people are zealous, deranged, delusional hypocrits!

The Headline alleges that Stonehenge was "seriously vandalized". An act that resulted in no permanent damage? Given that the "paint" in question was cornstarch and some soluble dye, it would be more accurate to say that Stonehenge was frivolously vandalized.

Was there on one of my trips to the UK just before covid hit. Absolutely disgusting act. Workers cleaned the stones but they should have been made to do it.

In this handout photo, Just Stop Oil protesters sit after spraying an orange substance on Stonehenge, in Salisbury, England, Wednesday June 19, 2024.

The Stonehenge demonstration was swiftly condemned by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who called it a "disgraceful act of vandalism". His main opponent in the election next month, Labour leader Keir Starmer, called the group "pathetic" and said the damage was "outrageous".

I guess the idiots don't know that you need oil for almost anything aside from it being the second most available resource on the planet. The fact they pretend it is scarce and expensive is the only real problem. To then damage the stonehenge that has nothing to do with it.

The worst part of those people, they don't realize that they are also the people they are protesting against!

Wait.... you just wrote that...   😒

What you don't seem to understand is that it's possible to protest primarily against the use of petroleum and natural gas as fuels as opposed to their other uses.

Apparently it's  cornflour based.

Then I wonder if any oil products were used to make fertiliser or diesel engined tractors etc were used when cultivating the corn.

You calling me , a person who doesn't drive a car , a "petrol head" is similar to those people attacking Stonehenge .

Neither myself or Stonehenge use petrol .

Find yourself better targets to attack, both of you

As for the gas guzzling private jets sprayed orange at Stanstead Airport... Oh dear, what a shame, never mind.

The two vandals who damaged the fence and airplane at Stanstead have been remanded in jail charged with causing 52 000 Pounds worth of damage , looks like they will have to pay for the damage caused

   what was the point ?

5000 year old rocks should stop causing pollution ?

How did the vandals get to Stonehenge ?

Car ?

there is no small amount if irony in the fact that Stonehenge is famous largely because the people that built it didn't have access to machinery's or oil and produced less carbon than the vandals just did. It is a shining example of how we should all live free of fossil fuels. We will move everything by hand with levers.

in the current system of life we live in to stop using petroleum and nat gas as primary sources of energy would result in the death of billions.

just stop oil.

At 16kg of carbon per human body, would that meet their goals?  And wouldn't they have to bury us instead of cremating us?

Of course, there's always the Soylent Green option.

This is why automobiles were never widely adopted. Because if you can't replace horses and buggies overnight, then they can't be replaced at all.

Such stunts also give governments tacit justification and general public approval to clamp down on freedom of expression and freedom of speech. It's almost as if these are false flag events designed to get us all to willingly give up our freedoms without a fight.

I assume that ER must subscribe to the 'All publicity is good publicity' school of thought. Their initial campaign focussed on disrupting the public's journeys to work which, unsurprisingly, won them few friends. They now appear to have turned their attention to defacing cultural edifices which, unsurprisingly is cheesing off many people who might otherwise be sympathetic to their cause.

Whatever the merits of their cause, imo ER their tactics are wrong; all they are currently succeeding in doing is alienating people.

Are they using the same campaign management team as the Tory Party, perhaps?

Comment is as weird as the actions of those pathetic individuals. What point is that then? It will not change the minds of the vast majority of the world.
