The recent surge in influenza has claimed 14 lives and affected more than 180,000 individuals across the country since the beginning of the year, as reported by the Department of Disease Control (DDC).

 

Director-General Thongchai Keeratihatthayakorn addressed the public's concerns regarding the severity of the circulating influenza strains. While emphasizing that influenza is typically a mild respiratory infection treatable with standard medical care, he acknowledged that in some cases, it can lead to serious intercurrent infections, increasing the risk of fatal outcomes.

 

A dedicated team from Disease Control Office 5 in Ratchaburi is currently collaborating with local public health offices to conduct an in-depth analysis of the flu cases. A comprehensive report summarizing their findings is anticipated next week.

 

According to data from the Epidemiology Division, from January 1 to June 20, there have been 186,900 reported flu cases resulting in 14 deaths. The fatalities have occurred in various regions in Thailand: five in Nakhon Ratchasima, two in Nakhon Si Thammarat, and one each in Chaiyaphum, Surat Thani, Bangkok, Sukhothai, Samut Prakarn, Kalasin.

Keep a healthy clean hygienic life style and nothing to worry about.

You forgot the most important thing. Stay away from everyone else and don't let your kids go to school because that's something they cannot do, and no sicknesses will be brought home.🤤

In Bangkok a week ago.  Many coughing sick people on the BTS trains.

Got my 2024 shot in February,,

It will be interesting to see the ages and co-morbidities of those who unfortunately died of (with) influenza. I won't hold my breath.

It reduces my risk of get seriously ill by 70% to 90%.

 

I never had the Influenza while updating my vaccine yearly, I caught it 5 years ago after a few years of negligence. Now it is just another floor to go to in Bumrungrad Building A.

So, it just seems like same as the yearly numbers. I would actually go that far, to say that only 14 deaths in a 6 month period is truly fantastic.

Just wondering. So many say they've got the flu when it's actually the common cold and of course now could be covid. They all have very similar symptoms.

No one says they have flu now, they have to say it's Covid to sound more dramatic.
