It's immigration closed on Monday 12th August?

Featured Replies

Ok I know it's still early but I M asking for a friend of mine!

Will immigration be closed on Monday 12th August?

He needs to extend his tourist visa, can he just go on Thursday 8th or Friday 9th August for the 30 days extension?

Definitely maybe, queens birthday

Not Queen.

It is H.M. Queen Mother's Birthday.

It is also Mother's Day

Closed for a public holiday, so yes, your friend should go before the weekend.

And why would he want to leave it till last few days prior to expiry.

The 30 days is added to expiry of current permit.

The count does not start day of application

Relying on Google will be your downfall.

Mother's Day in Thailand

When Thailand first introduced Mother’s Day in 1950 it observed was in April. In 1976, the date of Mother's Day was changed to August 12th to commemorate the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit.

Then what's your suggestion? It's a bit late if he goes Thursday 8th August or it's fine? Should he go before 8th August?

It's just an extension, very easy, just fill the form, passport copy, visa stamp and 1900thb. No issues to go on 8th or 9th August

So why start a thread about something you are very confident about and again "asking for a friend"

My point was there is no reason to leave it to last minute.

Just a suggestion, but why not say " yes he could wait until nearer the time, but whenever he extends, the days will be added to his current entry".

Far less confrontational and also, why and when people choose to extend is their business, no one else's.

There is also no reason not to.

Let people choose what they want to do, when they want to do it, and how.

Some people who leave it to the last minute and miss something important (most likely in such a case: proof of a TM30 notification) find out the hard way why it's usually best to go a bit earlier.

Read Caldera post above this one.

Folk leaving extensions to last couple of days make potential problems for themselves.

Yet again direct any advice to the OP (if you have any)

No, HM the Queen's birthday is June 3 and Immigration was also closed.

No - as @brewsterbudgen said ................the date is related to the Queen Mother.

(FYI - she was only queen whilst her husband was alive. She retains the title Queen Sirikit, Queen Mother).
