Police found their luggage near the front door, an indication that the group had not just arrived but had settled in.

What does that mean?

Yes, I do think that. You might think otherwise but you would be wrong. The BBC has reported on it.

*************

The government predicted as many as five million Chinese tourist arrivals by the end of the year - still less than half the nearly 11 million who came in 2019. But a big improvement on last year, when there were only 270,000.

That rosy scenario has turned out to be far too optimistic. Fewer than 2.5 million came in the first nine months of 2023.

I do understand you're gullible enough to believe all you read in the BBC report and think that one mall shooting would destroy Chinese tourism, but the problem is the slowing Chinese economy.

Just now, Mr Meeseeks said:

The Grand Hyatt Erawan is a cursed hotel, hence the neighbouring shrine.

Thais believe this superstition, as several construction workers were killed when it was being built.

There have been numerous incidents around the shrine that are believed to have more profound ramifications. Two of these include the mentally ill Thai man that defaced the statue and was beaten to death in the street, and the bomb allegedly planted by Uyghurs.

hahahahaha

The initial assessment revealed no bruising on the bodies, leading authorities to suspect poisoning as the cause of death. While forensic examinations confirmed the poisoning, it remains unclear whether the act was self-inflicted or if the individuals were victims of foul play. The police have yet to find any poison containers or additional evidence that could provide immediate answers.

If it were self-inflicted, one would believe they would find evidence for that if not thrown after they died. Another possibility, is of course that it could have been taken before they entered the room.

Reckon was a business deal they were all there to celebrate and one of the group thought I'm taking it all. Possibly taking money held in crypto account and would think as others have that fentanyl was used.

Can't believe the PM went to the scene as he was worried it would effect tourism 🙄

The perpetrator behind the poisoning and murder of 6 people in a luxury hotel in the heart of Bangkok has been identified as a woman. The discovery was made after the police questioned the daughter of one of the 6 deceased, leading to the revelation of the tragic motive.

In the case involving 6 deceased individuals, 3 men and 3 women, who were found in a hotel room in central Bangkok under the jurisdiction of Lumpini Police Station, it is suspected that they were poisoned. Later reports indicated that the deaths were caused by one of the 6 deceased, who poisoned everyone before dying last, as previously reported.

On July 17, 2024, at Lumpini Police Station, Pol. Maj. Gen. Teeradech Thamsutee, the head of the investigation unit, revealed that the police had summoned the daughter of one of the deceased for questioning last night, and had also called in additional witnesses.

Each witness provided useful information. According to the data, it is believed that the motive was related to debt issues and there were no other factors involved. The perpetrator is unlikely to be connected to anyone outside the group of 6 deceased individuals, as entry and exit records show that only the deceased entered and exited the room.

Reports indicate that the person responsible for the poisoning and murder in the luxury hotel was one of the 6 deceased, Ms. Sherine Chong, an American national. Her body was found dressed in green.

garden villa, 5th floor, 130 sqm. (as identified from pictures)

They seem to have, on Monday, checked out of several smaller rooms, in favor of this one large villa.

Then, they move their luggage in the villa, sometime Monday.

And, at 1:55 PM, Monday, they order room service.

This is the last contact made from the villa, to the outside world.

Tuesday evening, the maid discovers the unbeaten food, and contacts the constabulary.

Someone catch me up here...  Have they explained away the 7th person?  Because blaming one of the deceased seems pretty "convenient" for someone.

Six Vietnamese nationals mysteriously died today at a luxury hotel in Bangkok after allegedly drinking tea and coffee mixed with poison. Police believe there may be a seventh Vietnamese but that individual has not been located.

The group had booked seven hotel rooms but only five members checked in. Despite this, six bodies were discovered in the room. According to the police report, they had not yet paid for their accommodation. Officers are also investigating whether there was a mistake in booking the room or if the seventh person did not attend the scheduled meeting.

Both statements above from Thaiger links.

From the New York Times, we have corroboration that all SIX drank coffee or tea!

https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/16/world/asia/thailand-six-dead-poisoning.html

So, why would they drink coffee and tea before their meal, and not after or during the meal, and most Chinese do?

And, once again, what is the role of the open container of honey?

Was this a purchase made in Thailand as a souvenir, as honey is a very nice gift to be bought by many in Thailand, while visiting.

Also, according to this article, it was only "assumed" that they had been poisoned, and so this does not rule out some sort of mutual act engaged in by all SIX which led to death for all.

But then, why were two of the individuals trying to reach the door, to exit?

=====

One other curious fact:

There were 6 plates of food ordered for 6 people, consisting of fried rice and a fried egg, one plate per person.  But there were only 4 bowls of TomYongGong soup!

What happened to the other two bowls?

In addition, there was a plate of seaweed, and two plates of some kind of mixed vegetables, some sliced Asian cucumber garnishes, and all the coffee/tea cups were missing from the table in the BBC photo image, except for one lone cup.

Who overturned that water bottle in the BBC photo image?

The water bottle was lying on its side, empty.

If we had more information, or all the information available, then it might be possible to say more, and, perhaps, help to suggest solutions to this mystery.

Why don't you stop speculation and read and get the facts first. Your not a very good Sherlock Holmes on this case adding and confusion information thats been published and adding in unverified info.

I know many wealthy Vietnamese who were boat people and became successful.  Also, at the ages given, they would more likely be children if boat people.

Yes.

And, entirely possible for the two to be among the children in the boats of the boat people who had been rescued and welcomed to the United States. They ARE Americans, too, of course.

And, most are very hard workers.

I had not intended to imply otherwise. It is just their ages that made me think they might have been among the rescued boat people.

They seem to think everyone in a hotel is checked in . Very easy for someone to walk in with a guest already checked in and go around the hotel with them.

I thought lifts have cameras in them also , so would be easy to check if they all arrived together etc.

Already the Authorities are panicking for the potential tourist image according to Sky News. Never mind the deaths there only thinking of the Tourism and will likely come out with the old Mass Suicide. However 2 are American Vietnamese sothe American Embassy will likely want the truth of how they died.

Also on BBC:

"The prime minister said that he did not want this incident to affect Thailand's image or have an impact on tourism"

I wouldn't be very happy if I were a relative or friend and read that tripe. What a pathetic robot!

Authorities now say one of them poisoned the other five, not sure how they just get this conclusion unless they found poison in one persons luggage.

That was my first thought to be honest.

Maybe someone who stood to gain financially from the death of the others and didn't want to commit the offense in Vietnam.

Much better to go to a place where the police are more than happy to rule it a group suicide as to avoid the work involved in a real investigation.

Or maybe I've read too many John Burdett novels? 😄

Police have also located the seventh person who was supposed to check in and the person has earlier returned to Vietnam of July 10 and is believed not to be related to the deaths. (Khaosod)

Bloomberg reported originally that all 6 are Americans of Vietnamese descent.

"6 Vietnamese dead" certainly is a lot less damage to Thailand than  "6 Americans dead"

Bloomberg has now changed it to "4  Vietnamese and 2 Vietnamese with American citizenship" - no real Americans.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-07-16/thailand-probes-deaths-of-six-foreigners-at-bangkok-luxury-hotel?srnd=homepage-asia

“Vietnamese with American citizenship” = no real Americans in your mind? Interesting, bent dealing with a nation of immigrants, including my own forebears arriving in the 1600s before the founding of the USA.

Room 427 is not going to be too popular for the Thai population @ that hotel perhaps they will have to be renumbered. Usually they do not even say hotel name

Are you sure that Fentanyl would leave a trace?

I am not sure.

2 milligrams is really quite a small dose.

Also, didn't all deceased die almost at exactly the same time?

Otherwise, at least one might have called for help.

Fentanyl acts immediately.

Also, if the poison was in the tea...or coffee....then..

Would they not have all have had to drink their beverages at the SAME TIME?

Also THIS:

image.png.5456ddc7f1bdd75e654a9dacd0e3a342.png

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/six-people-two-vietnamese-americans-found-dead-bangkok-hotel-rcna162144

So then:  Foaming at the mouth?

I am going with Fentanyl, or the similar but stronger version of Fentanyl, which is 20 times stronger than Fentanyl.  In that case, the lethal dose would be 0.1 milligram, per deceased

If the poison was in their tea or coffee, Anutin should act swiftly to require permits for sale of tea and coffee throughout the Kingdom and assure Vietnamese tourists they are safe again, similar to his measures when a Chinese tourist was murdered at Siam Paragon with by a deranged teenager with a blank gun.  He did a good job reassuring Chinese tourists they were safe by telling them he had required registration of blank guns and even BB guns. The message went out and owners of blank and BB guns were requested to register them but when the interest had died down, there was no follow up and, as of today, there is still no law or regulation to facilitate the registration of blank and BB guns.  So it is not actually possible to register them.
