Thailand's Prime Minister has been named the most popular politician based on job performance, according to a recent Line Today opinion poll. The survey, which took place from 1st to 20th July, measured the opinions of users of the Line app.

Srettha Thavisin garnered an impressive 40.13% of the votes, amounting to 8,742. The poll results reflect a significant public endorsement of his leadership.

Pita Limjaroenrat, the chief advisor of the Move Forward Party, came a close second with 7,427 votes, accounting for 34.09% of the total.

In terms of other notable figures, Chalermchai Sri-on, the leader of the Democrat Party, received 9.02% of the votes with 1,966 people showing their support.

Meanwhile, Move Forward's MP Sirikanya Tansakul earned 2.59% with 565 votes, and Public Health Minister Somsak Thepsuthin captured 2.2% with 479 votes.

Energy Minister Pirapan Salirathavibhaga snagged 471 votes, making up 2.16% of the poll. Pheu Thai MP Jiraporn Sindhuprai, former Thai Civilized Party leader Mongkolkit Suksintharanon, and Democrat chief advisor Chuan Leekpai received 0.94%, 0.88%, and 0.87% of the votes, respectively. Lastly, Move Forward MP Rangsiman Rome rounded out the top ten with 0.84% of the votes, totalling 182.

The poll's findings highlight a diverse range of political support, with Srettha Thavisin leading prominently.

The results reflect the current landscape of Thai politics and reveal public sentiment towards various political leaders.

This strong showing for Srettha indicates that his policies and leadership style have resonated well with a significant portion of the Thai population.

As political dynamics continue to evolve, these poll results will likely influence ongoing public discourse and future political strategies.

Something along the lines of the slaves loving their chains comes to mind...

'Prominence' translates (partly) in to 'popularity', as every politician knows. Just look at Trump ...

The position you occupy was stolen from another. Nobody that counts had a choice. Nobody likes you. Nobody cares about you. You are a nobody. Move along, please, and take your crafty overlord with you!

The people polled were the same ones that were polled that were overwhelmingly in support of recriminalizing marijuana again. Settha is the least  popular prime minister in history. In reality he has no support and is propped up by Toxin. Its all going to come crashing down. People are realizing that Thailand was in better shape with Prayuth and Prawit, and that is just sad.

Well no one can say Srettha is not World Class Smiler.....

He's probably the worst PM Thailand has ever had. Billionaire property founder of Sansiri.

My opinion :

Completely deluded, and with no concept of what is going on on the ground, other than the sanitised clean up look he gets before arriving anywhere.

Has achieved nothing, other than opening up the borders to the world and the problem that it will bring to Thailand, and the ensuing ecological tourist disaster.

His obsession with tourism is alarming. Rather than trying to diversify the economy like Vietnam and Philippines have, he is just bunkered Thailand down to more years of addiction to cheap mass tourism, this time on steroids.

His proclomations that Thailand should host international sporting events, have free visa access to France and Germany (even though those countries are bound by the European Union rules as a collective), hub proclomations, show an alarming child like naivity.

He's achieved nothing of note.

Even the General was better.

It was laughable how he become PM. He really has no genuine mandate from the people.

Achieved nothing at all.

Should have been given the position of Tourist minister, not leader of a developing nation.

Think's he is the PM of a G7 western developed nation.

His tourist policy of allowing anyone and their dog to enter Thailand is an enviromental disaster, will allow the worst criminals in the world to enter, and will push up rents - none of which he has addressed.

Concerns over motives around some policies, despite selling shares to his daughter - which doesn't really close the book on the issue.

His positioning around Thaksin leaves him a worldwide laughing stock.

Genuine question - can anyone think of anything he has achieved that benefits Thai lives, other than using tax payers money to give them a handout - which ironically the people of Thailand will have to pay back to cover the massive cost.

Any standout policy that has improved Thai lives, or something you see on the horizon?

Anything internationally he has achieved? He let in loads of Russians (which drove up rents in Phuket, and put Thai's out of work as Russians took over).

Has he taken on China over the massive deficit in trade between the two, which seemingly is only benefitting China? Not really, he just opened the border to let more Chinese in.

Is the economy in great shakes? Not really.

Has he addressed pollution? The mess that is leaving Chiang Mai as the most polluted city in the world every few months. Not a single thing has addressed the problem to stop that, just a few little wipes around the edges. That in itself is a national disgrace.

He's nothing more than a property developer, with a love of tourism.

No experience or political acumen.

He loves tourism. More people into the country, the better for real estate. To hell with local Thai people.

Either he isn't aware of the problems that an open door immigration policy will bring, or he is just a wrong one.

Allowing the world to just enter Thailand, in a developing nation, where many are suffering a low GDP per person. However, the population is content, due to affordable living standard, and most importantly homes are still there for people to live in at affordable costs. His policies will directly hurt the local Thai people by pushing up rents, making things become unaffordable, which will then see a demand for more wages, which will push costs onto consumers.

Complete lack of experience.

He seems unaware he is leading a developing nation, not a fully fledged global economic super power.

His only qualification to lead a country appears to be he is a billionaire.

At least the General had some experience in the military, and was ready to lay his life for the country on account of actually serving in the forces.

- No action taken on pollution. Will Chiang Mai be the most polluted city in the world next January. You bet it will. How can anyone be so disgusting to not take action?

-Anything done to tackle the huge inequality of wealth from rich Thais (including himself) and the majority who are further down. Nothing at all.

-International policies? Nope nothing. Going to France to ask for visa free access, only not to be aware France does not make it's border policy (it controlled as a collective by the European Union).

Positives

- He speaks English

- He smiles alot. Which makes him palatable than an angry looking military guy.

Thai people I know cannot stand him

Most infamous maybe, but he still has a ways to go to beat out Prayut (the village idiot) first.

Prayut at least had the common sense to let people with more expertise take control.

Thailand handled covid (compared to many other countries) rather well (despite there being many faults).

The current guy would have opened up borders straight away fearing for his property empire and his beloved tourism.

Don’t believe they did. They just cooked the books. Crematoria were apparently overrun.

Prayut did not let people take control... he lost it.
Thailand and Anutin mis-handled the Covid outbreak, mostly with corruption and inept decisions.

Keeping the borders open would have saved thousands from going bankrupt, and pushing many into debt plus killing the economy.

Utter nonsense. The UK tried to keep opening up, ended up going into massive lock downs due to hospitals being over run. Go look at the official figures.

Thailand by and large for a few months here and there remained open domestically at least. In the UK you were only allowed one hour of exercise a day because the countries health system would have collapsed.

What would this guy have done ? Opened up because of his property empire ?

This is utter nonsense.

The Thai people I know say this was a rubbish poll. They all, without exception, say Srettha is a fraud and a failure.
