Ex-Footballer Ian Heddle Jailed for Child Abuse in Thailand

Recommended Posts

Good sentence - FOR HIM - anyway. Serves his sentence then gets out just in time for retirement. Personally I think Thailand should push for an extradition notice now and let him fear for his future whilst detained

Every one of those images has a victim

How emboldened do these perverts feel, that they store and video themselves abusing a child?

4 years to me is manifestly inadequate for the safety of children

The question I always have is; why is big tech not charged for storage of images and disseminating, because if they were not there, nonces wouldn't be able to down load? Big tech can find and block/delete your account for saying hurty words but not people making money from illegal child porn!

It would do if he was put in with the general population.

However, this scum will be protected and isolated from the hard men.

Could he not have served his time in Thailand? No such protected luxury then.

I wondered about that....presumably the authorities still have a duty of care, regardless of his crime or because of it, and he will be segregated for the term of his sentence???

Sure, and then spend hardly any time in jail. Sends a message that ruining countless lives runs a very small risk.

Nationals cannot be deported from their own countries

This may be the case in Scotland (I am not from Liverpool, so how would I know:sorry:)

It is not like that in all countries (the US extradited Ghosn's liberators to Japan, Thailand not long ago extradited a Thai to the US for a traffic accident,  Germany's second biggest party plans to deport millions of Germans they don't like)

I suppose he will lost his job as a crane driver in Asia(?!?) and the criminal record will make it harder to find work. Small blessings.

The only thing I could say is........ four years inside a Glasgow jail as a kiddy fiddler......will seem like a lifetime!!

Nope; he will be a Rule 43 Prisoner and will be in with all the other Kiddy Fiddlers !

Recently a guy got 11 years for running an IPTV service and this nonce only gets 4? Clearly the authorities consider streaming premier league a more heinous offence tha child abuse the law truly is an ass

Four years for the sexual abuse of a young child and the possession of child pornography is shamefully short. I hate to think he may be out in two years for good behaviour. Hopefully he fellow prisoners will make his stay particularly memorable for him.

He would have to survive two years.

"Heddle’s distinctive thin wedding band made identification possible",

Seemingly still proud to be married but obviously not committed. Well, the kiddie fiddler has been committed now !

Should have been 10 years, pathetic sentence

No where near enough, hopefully science will one day discover the area of the brain that compels these horrible people to commit these acts and destroy it

Castration comes to my mind as these scumbags should not be allowed to roam free. No castration - rott in jail. God knows how many innocent lives he destroyed. In my honest opinion don’t waste too much time… instead  hope on a rope.

I'm truly shocked at how widespread this fetish for young children really is. Newscasters, celebrities, footballers, politicians, priests, and presumably judges....it's all over the world.

I was reading elsewhere  (today's UK Indy) about Huw Edwards who used to read the BBC news and is still on the payroll at half a million a year. He was done for 'making indecent images of children' which makes you think that he made images of children or paid people to make indecent videos.....but that is not the case at all.....his phone received some 400 or so indecent images of children, of which 17 were in Category 1 the worst category. He has pleaded guilty but in fact you do not have to even open the image for it to be a crime, even if you are on some distribution list that someone sends out randomly.

The public really need to know exactly what the law is and the crime to have it explained as to why the wording of this crime, doesn't reflect the actual crime. And when I think back some police officer was charged with porn or child offences some time back. She simply opened a picture from her sister that had an image the prosecutor deemed indecent (which is another word that has a vague meaning).

I'm all for actual molesters getting banged up for long times....I'm not sure that Huw Edwards crime falls into the same category, but he is facing 10 years in the slammer apparently....which to me seems bit steep for having 17 or so grossly indecent images out of 400 stored on his phone. Having said that I have always liked Huw and thought he was the best of the best. This news about him shocks me more than Jimmy Saville. I always thought Saville was a prick.
