Bad news for Harris, unemployment rises

Featured Replies

I couldn't agree more, with Harris we have the risk of continuing a democratic system, no drama to entertain us, and most of all the risk of not getting tired of winning.

The thing I loved the most during the trump administration was how tired I was from winning. His Health care plan was incredible!! The middle east was solved , Many of his administration even managed not to go to jail.

Yet, still, Trump was unfairly treated and unjustly maligned.

This is a very unfair world in which we live.

Worrying signs, but I still think she'll do it.  Most Americans understand the risks of Trump winning again.  I suspect his campaign may self-destruct 🤞

thank you for posting this graph. now lets look at it objectively shall we.

is there anything that happened in the USA and globally around the time of that huge blue spike in mid 2020 ? of course there was..... covid. covid caused the huge spike in unemployment as evident world wide. now that did happen when trump was in office yes. however regardless of trumps policies unemployment would of spiked like that no matter who was in office. covid remember. the world was closed. hard to find work when the world is closed and you are told to stay home. all trumps fault right ?

so then the unemployment will naturally drop when the covid was easing. which happened under biden.

now if we look at the numbers leading up to that huge spike we will also notice some things. i see the blue lines are never as big as the blue lines from 2021 on. give or take one or 2 possibly. i cant see from the logo.

if i was looking at that chart from a trading perspective i would call it a rounded bottom pattern forming. you can clearly see a continuous uptick from about mid or early 2023 until now.

unless i am deed the chart wrong.

extremely important to note again that the lowest numbers from mid to late 2022 are a little higher than the  numbers before the spike. which looks to be the lowest numbers for unemployment from the data provided. again give or take a month or so.

That is a "bar" graph.

Everybody knows that "bar" graphs are often biased.

That's why both words begin with a B, as in B-girl.

The risk to the left is that Trump could possibly stop the leftward slide of the US.

That's all they really care about.

Yes.

Trump is just trying to limit and reduce the risk that America (the US) could slide and spiral enough that it would become the new South Africa of the world.

In case you forgot .

"Open borders "  was that you or was it someone else?

Do you support allowing the millions of people that cross the border illegally to stay in the country?

It is useless to offer opinion not supported by collaborating argument.

This is a forum where we discuss issues, not poll where we log in our opinion.

How was he unfairly treated and unjustly maligned?

Yes.

I agree.

Supporting evidence is so much more convincing than collaborating argument.

(As I always say, when presenting a paper, one can anticipate that there will be those who ask one for supporting evidence.)

Voters don’t need phony government statistics to know the economy is in trouble.  They pay bills every month.  They go to the grocery store.  It’s more than obvious.

Anyway, the election is still a few months away and things aren’t looking too good.  The question is, who to blame for the mess. The Democrats are still trying to blame Trump for everything. I’m not sure that will work, though.  It’s Biden’s mess.

Well, you were the writer who first mentioned farts and farting in this thread, which I appreciated.

You seemed confused by my allusion.

Initially, I was speaking only of the importance of providing supporting evidence for one's arguments.

When you suggested that I do better to provide more supporting evidence for my arguments, I stated to you that I could feel it coming on. And then you likened by supporting evidence to a fart, which is your privilege.

Then you mentioned or questioned my wording, upon which time I felt the need to provide the origin of my original allusion, for further disambiguation.

That is all.

Nothing more.

No.. I was talking of the importance of providing supporting evidence for one's arguments, after you provided an unsubstantiated opinion.

You seemed to agree but still did not substantiate your opinion,

When I called you on it, and said " why don't you then support your opinion" you said

: wait feel one coming up." Not knowing what was "one coming up" I inquired if it was a "fart"

To which you posted a ZZ top song.

This forum has  departed the weird, is now in the twilight zone.

Misleading chart. The very low employment engineered from the Trump years in are covered by the Investing.com logo. The surge in unemployment in 2020 as anyone who reads the news knows was caused by COVID lockdowns and furloughs. Biden arrived in Jan 2021, when unemployment had dropped from 15 million plus in 2020 down to 6 million +. Unemployment then returned to normal ie under 4 million gradually over 2021 as furlough folk went back to work. It stayed below 4 million for most of Biden's flawed reign and is now back above 4 million. Show us on the chart where in the Trump years prior prior to the COVID lockdown and furloughs unemployment exceeded 4 million.

Reasons for fluctuation seem to only be good only when  supporting trump's position.

Only because that was what inflation was when he took office, not because of anything Trump did. Biden's soft landing avoiding the recession the repugs were predicting, and inflation now down to around 3% shows the best performance of any economy in the g20.

Since Biden became POUTS prices have increased by 20.7%.  Which had bitten the middle class.

People don’t seem to understand what’s going on.  The entire left/right thing and the possible slide into socialism or whatever isn’t the real issue. That’s just the narrative. That’s what they want you to believe. Trump is demonized because he represents a threat to the continuing flow of corruption money to the military complex and the war machine.  Those people need a continual state of war.  They assassinated Kennedy for the same reason they demonize Trump.

Anyone who thinks I’m nuts should go and spend a few years inside the Beltway. Listen to the typical conversations at dinner. Listen to what people are focused on. It’s all about money. Take a walk through some of the parking garages near K Street.  Every kind of expensive car you can think of is in those parking garages.  The amount of money flowing through DC is beyond belief, and much of it is for “national defense.”  And the USA has the best congress that money can buy.

You are right , my bad

Not so sure about whether he is right or not. But my pension increases based on inflation rates and the cost of living across the US. I just read an article that next year the increase in SSI will be about 3.6%. That is a low average they are calculating and telling the press already. So the numbers in your charts do not really mean anything if the increase to live is so much this year.

Those corrections are good for the market, unless you're a short term investor. Long term investors know they happen regularly. I was fully invested through black friday, the dot com bubble, Bush's housing crises, etc and still have an average return of around 12% excluding dividends over a 40 year time frame.

Might be a good time for you to exit then.

Well shut downs did. Trump's 2019 data is superior to most for 40 years. That's why he rates highly.
