My doctor once put me on AMLODIPINE a blood pressure medication,I didn't tolerate it well so went off it ,tiredness ,swollen ankles

My blood pressure remains at around 150,160/90, probably caused by the Testereone injections I have monthly

I don't like taking this Blood pressure medication or any medication for that matter.

My doctor has decided to put me on one called VALSARTIN😱

I googled it ,it doesn't have good reviews unfortunately

However says it helps with erectile dysfunction 🥴

I haven't bothered to start it yet because I'm concerned it may do more damage than good

Anyone else here on Valsartin?

Did you cope with it ?

If you think that  monthly testosterone might be responsible try a half dose 2 times per month to avoid spikes.

I find it strange that a Doctor can say 'try this medication for a few months', and then if your symptoms don't improve, they try another one, until you tell them it is working.

In your case, why not try quitting the testosterone jabs if you know they are causing dangerously high BP.

You ask the same question my GP asked

Why ? Because it gives me energy and power for the gym,it makes me feel muscle strong

I will say this though.

I had a gym weightlifting gym friend a few years ago in Pattaya ,he was a business owner very well known in Pattaya.

Combined testereone along with high blood pressure, Dead

I was prescribed VALSARTAN 75mg (Diovan here) in 2016 after bypass surgery.  I never noticed any side effects.  Several years ago, prior to Covid, there was a report of carcinogenic contamination in Valsartan and it became difficult to buy for several years.  I switched to LOSARTAN 25mg on Doctors advice.  Similar to Valsartan but with a shorter active time span and recommended to take at bedtime.

Neither "helps" with ED, both are just less prone to contribute to ED then other classes of BP medications.   I recently resumed taking Valsartan (40mg) on my Cardiologists advice simply because of it's longer active effectiveness of 24 hours. It is considerably more expensive than Losartan.

My BP has been between 115-130/70-85 for several years.  When I experimented with TESTOSTERONE injections under a Doctors supervision for 6 months last year my BP notably rose 10-15 points, both sides.  I was 80 at the time and it did not seem to help much with ED though it did give me more energy.

Why not stop the Testosterone?

It gives me energy for the gym

It doesn't work for erection dysfunction well not for me

It makes my moods more happier ,I'm now addicted to it

It's obviously affecting my health long term,it's dangerous stuff

So far I was on 3 different BP medications. (including Valsartin). All of them had one thing in common: They ALL made me tired, weak and listless.

Garlik was mentioned here, I will try it.

Needless to say, if I will meet people I don't really like, I will use raw garlik before. When meeting people I like, I will use a garlik substitute before.

Vast majority of people do not experience this. As with most side effects, just an unlucky minority.

3 different medications of which class/type?

If you experience side effects with one BP medication, likely will do so with other medications of the same or related class. In the case of valsartan, it is an ARB and these in turn are closely related to ACE inhibitors. So should try something not in either class.

Actually both ACE & ARB meds are also Vasodilators that open your blood vessels which is basically what the drugs you mention do also

I'm currently using Amlodipine and its doing a good job with my BP but i'm getting severe ankle and foot swelling. I'm thinking of trying something else and following your suggestion am thinking of trying Losartan (CAZAAR) 50mg, i assume its available in Thailand.

What do you think Sheryl ?

George, you need a diuretic,  they lower BP and makes you pi$$ alot off, that seems to be ideally suited to you.!

Yep, Big Pharma.

They even recently lowered the ideal numbers again.

Dr BP meds I had since 1991 are classed as very old and newer improved Med's is  Amlodipine = severe ankle and foot swelling for me, Dr tried other things also ending in pine = the same  eg Manidipine

I take for past 4 years Losartan 20mg, mornings, but go on my BP readings every morning if low do not take > if over 165/88 then take 40 mg..

Also take Dozozin  2 MG 1 x  Evening > recommended dose for Male age 74 is 6 mg, have tried 4 mg but also get ankle and foot swelling, so stick on 2mg

You should discuss with your doctor as there may have been a specific reason for putting you on a calcium channel blocker.

If there was not then yes could switch to an ARB like Losartan. Readily available in Thailand and inexpensive. However at 50mg dose sometimes effect does not last full 24 hours i.e. your BP may rise later in the day.
