Lou, is that you?

Why you not answer my question and tell us how they opened the hood to charge the battery, if it was not possible to open the hood without a charged battery?

"Why you not answer" [sic] this...what are you talking about?  You didn't quote me, neither did you ask me a question.

A little dramatic don't you think?  plummeting oxygen levels...... hilarious    He was a man, not a infant child.    Maybe he needs to ManUp.

Nonsense.

What sort of pathetic human can't open a car door.

When I'm in the village, I sit in my car for hours and hours, battery still opens doors.

Not if the battery is completely dead, as reported in this case, it doesn't, it couldn't.

It should be illegal to manufacture a car without a mechanical way to open the door.period all stop!🛑 don’t let these manufacturers force this garbage down your throat!

Requires a functioning problem solving brain..    too many steps involved  and no way to make extra money

...    hammer to glass simple ..

I break your window,,   go see my brother inlaw ..  he owns a glass shop   and his wife runs the noodle shop on site..  then you can get a foot massge from her sister in the shop next to it.

Definately an E46… should have been able to manually pop the hood and jump. As a German car enthusiast (Benz/Beemer), I’ve owned several throughout the years in the U.S.  Wouldn’t buy one here for multiple reasons- support being one of them. Case in point pictured above!

Gawd, she is an old banger, doors open manually, no need for power.

Probably got dozens of rust holes in her, for good ventilation, plenty of oxygen.

No need to concerned about oxygen levels dwindling 5555

Doors wouldn't open.

If it's one of those new all electric things I doubt the hood would open.

My brother had a gasoline one and his trunk would not open with the battery dead. $400 for a new battery.

These electronic door openers require minimal voltage, low power, milliamps, a transistor radio battery will allow proper function.

A car battery will always deliver enough power for electronics.

Incorrect - E46  has electric locks.

Incorrect- a dead battery offers *no power*… minimal or otherwise.

E46 has one battery (no auxiliary).

Remove the headrest in most cars and the attachment rods are designed purposefully for breaking the window from the inside. But don't tell your children this....

Incorrect.

Where was it said DEAD battery?

A drained battery will still supply voltage, low amperage for electronics.

"entirely drained" seems to cover it !

Yep

"The rescue team swiftly arrived at the scene to find the car doors unresponsive due to an entirely drained battery."

Suggest you read the article again.

Your logic for a start !

Given your refusal to acknowledge that, concerning battery life, "entirely drained" equates to "dead."

Mate, it's NOT Romper Room

But the doors didn't open, so it obviously was entirely drained / dead.

If it still had enough juice to open them they would have opened.

What are a weird and pointless argument you two are having.

You are assuming.

I reckon the guy was drugged up, a typical loser foreigner. Stupid people react differently.

Stop assuming if you are interacting with members on AN, show some professionalism.

Where did it say 'completely dead'.

You guys are in your magical mystery land again.

Half the medication people, we can see you are troubled.

Let's stick with the facts.

Why the nasty interaction?

It's only an argument when people stick their nose in where it's not wanted.

These people started the interaction, to question my opinion, now you want me to sit back and cop their crap.

You chose the wrong member to antagonize fella.

People need to mind their own business.

If you disagree with someone's opinion just scroll down, I do it all the time, try it.

Wow, possibly the biggest over reaction to a throwaway comment ever.

Yeah, it happens too bloody often.

Interfering people who have too much free time to annoy others.

People need to control themselves and keep scrolling, mind their own business.

It's easy for me, I rarely make a comment to those I disagree with unless they start, I just keep scrolling.

If I get a stupid interaction/comment for no reason at times I will ignore but if they keep up the hostility, I'm replying.

We carry an emergency hammer in our car so we can smash a window if necessary.

Also useful if Satnav directs us into a lake.

Seriously though, just gain access to the battery and jump it.

My new VW came with a  tool to force windows. Just have to remember to keep it upfront !!!

Intriguing activity.

The wonders of modern technology. Even BMW don't cut off the fan before the battery goes dead, meaning the driver was locked in an almost sealed container in 30+ degrees of heat. Well done the filling station staff.

The "notification system" is a mess on here. You get "replies" that are not to anything you wrote. Posts that have nothing to do with the main topic are notified, just two of the regulars having the usual trivial argument.

It is time (since we have new owners again) for an overhaul.

You, together with the guy you're replying to, must be illiterate because the guy (ME), never said such a thing as it is an EV
