Latest developments and discussion of recent events in the Ukraine War
The simple truth is that a negotiated peace would be the quickest way to end this war, but it would result in Russia being rewarded for instigating the conflict and is therefore rejected by Ukraine and, for the time being at least, by her Western allies. Crimea was not lost to a Western-backed coup in 2014. It was lost to another act of aggression by Russia. The Maidan protests in 2014 - which eventually led to the overthrow of Yanukovych's government - were a direct result of Yanukovych refusing to sign and implement the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement. This Agreement had already been approved by the Ukrainian parliament and formed a major plank in the platform upon which Yanukovych had been elected. However, under pressure from Moscow, Yanukovych unilaterally decided against signing the Agreement campaign but instead sought closer ties to Russia, an act which led to his removal. This event was the catalyst for the escalation in the conflict in Ukraine. Russia may be concerned at what she perceives as NATO military encroachment into her sphere of influence, but imo she is even more concerned about her loss of economic influence and simply does not respect Ukraine's decision to place her future economic prospects with the West (the EU). The blame for this conflict sits squarely on Russian shoulders. -

I never said "...that the only a few Western media are owned by their State." Take it back or be called a liar. Your definition that ownership determines control is fine. So to be clear, it is your position that western media that is owned by the state is controlled by the state, and that western media not owned by the state is controlled by whoever owns the media. Correct? -

And if you are watching it [porn] in public and staring at females to such a degree they / someone is made uncomfortable or threatened - then there is an issue which needs to be dealt with. Its possible this cafe owner prevented a sexual assault. Its possible this cafe owner over reacted - but then, if I opened a video on the BTS and it was pornographic, I'd close it straight away.... In fact I don't open messages from 'some message groups' in public because of the possibility of such content. -

Will pepper spray stop dog attacks
Well, then I will spray you with a nice red chili spray to drive the point home. Those wild street dogs are a godforsaken nuisance, their manure literally everywhere and barking the whole night. What a nightmare. I called the municipality more than once, they come around and pick-up the whole lot (last time 63 of them) and within months ..... back to Square One. I for one can fully understand, why someone wants to use pepper spray and, in answering to the original question, yes, pepper sprays work wonders. If it is me with a potential tetanus infection through a dog bite or an inconvenient spray of pepper, you can guess what I opt for. -

Great advice - very similar to my plans - and I hope they work for every one who does it. However, I would say definitely send money to yourself and spend it (aside from the Visa deposit) such that it totals under the allowances and exemptions that a couple would have in a joint tax return - therefore no tax return needed IMO. My wife's part of my tax return calculations does not include the gift money - it is not declared if it is a valid gift. To be valid the wife must not transfer money to me or give it to me, but IMO it is OK if she is pays for most things. My Wife will be paying all the main stuff and I will be 'chipping in' by also sending to myself some and taking it out and spending it. We have bought a house in her name and that was a gift, we have bought a car in her name and that was a gift, when we buy another car in a year or two, that will be a gift. Any additional money giving as a gift is her money to spend as she wants. -
