It doesn't matter, there will be a trumped up charge made and she will be the next Shinawatra fugitive. Then there will be another coup because the military will insist on keeping control. Round and round it goes.

Yes indeed. I wonder how long she will last...

And thet would like to thank the Thai people for there support What a joke the Thai people voted for change with the MFP but they fixed that, it doesn't matter what the Thai people want its about corruption and control

Then people wonder why the military keeps stepping in the "fix" the corruption.

However, is this the end of the THB 10,000 handout?

Not sure, this was a party campaign promise, which should be upheld... nothing to do with a change at the top?

Initially, a meeting of government whips at Thaksin’s residence had agreed to nominate Chaikasem Nitisiri, 76, as their candidate. However, a meeting of Pheu Thai MPs today decided to nominate Paetongtarn instead.

Interesting that a man on parole has such influence.

Orchestrated to a T...   (Thaksin pun intended)....

The Master puppeteer has moved his pieces perfectly...  Pushed Sreetha through, knowing his Digital wallet was untenable, illegal and vote buying, he'd be easy to 'oust' and he was.

Nudge out the competition, Pita and the house of representatives...

And we have a new 'fresh face'.. Wooo !!! - at least its not that vile anti-farang tub of lard, Anutin.

Next on the agenda?  full pardon for Thaksin himself ?...  His aliments will magically have improved and he won't need his 'Dubai Specialist' (Doctor)... and Auntie will be back at the family dinner table soon enough.

What left for Thai politicians? to openly call the public a bunch of gullible fools ?...

One of the many things Thailand has going for it, is that even in light of such open insult to democracy and the public in general, their apathy is such that the tendency to respond violently is significantly suppressed.... History has shown that serious uprising is dealt with swiftly and in a deadly manner (1976 Thammasat University massacre / 1992 Black May).

A populace gets the government it deserves...   and it would be amiss of me to highlight how broken our own democratic process are with the Biden debacle proving a perfect example of external puppeteering.

I hope this is a refreshing and advantageous step for Thailand, but can't help think that this is just one last dance for a megalomaniac.

I was with you until you confusingly brought Biden into comparison in this Thai mess somehow.

We might be surprised but I wouldn’t give her more than a year.

It will probably be quite entertaining at times. She is not very bright like Yingluck but, unlike Yingluck, apparently quite arrogant. Whatever honeymoon period this coalition government may have had under Srettha is long gone.

Who cares? Certainly not the Thai People.

NIDA Poll "Political Popularity Survey for the First Quarter of 2024":

When asked about support for candidates for PM:

Pita 42.75%, "no suitable candidate" 20%, Thavisin 17.75%, Paetongtam 6%, Pirapan 3.6%. (some figures rounded, my bold).

https://nidapoll.nisa.ac.th/data/survey/uploads/FILE-1711167362839.pdf

Of course MFP no longer exists.

Nobody voted for her .

Nobody wants her to become PM outside her circle .

She was a Pheu Thai party list candidate - so rather a lot of people voted for her in fact. She was always very much in the top tier of the party leadership, so again that was known when people voted Pheu Thai.

Now I don't pretend to know whether she will be any good as Prime Minister, but given the experience of when her aunt was in the job she will probably be less, umh, "venal" than some others.

Either way, I suspect that it will end in tears.

Easy to forget that whoever leads the country....... in terms of party or PM........ has very little to do with what the general Thai population actually want.

Okay so she tickets the box for being well educated - not exactly Ivy League though.

Maybe she will become an American Presidential candidate down the road if things do not work out here in Thailand - the only qualification needed is to have been born in the USA which she was it seems.

I wonder which airline her husband flies for.

Since she was born in America could she run for president? that would be right up Toxin's street that would,

I just looked her up using Google. Her overview says she was born August 31, 1986 United States. But you go to her Wiki page and it says she was born in Bangkok. Which one is true? Is there some online scrubbing going on?
