ups makes noise when turn off light

when i turn off a light switch in a room it makes my ups beep as if there is a power outage. it does not beep each time i flip a switch. i live in a newly built house that is fully grounded. i tested all the electric inlets with a tester to make sure all the electric wiring was done correctly. i am baffled, and i dont understand how the current might make a 'loop' like that and make my ups beep.

any ideas?

Maybe someone mixed up N and ground.

I don't know if an ordinary tester would show that.

And what kind of light is behind that light switch. If it is an old-fashioned transformer and halogen lamps, that could be a scenario which the UPS doesn't like.

For the record: I am not too bad with electric, but I am not a specialist.

led lights resembling fluorescent tubes.

i tested the inlets, but not the connections on the cables on the light switches

Have you checked the voltage while switching on a load? It is perfectly possible that your supply is poor enough that just switching on a load will drop the voltage enough to trigger the UPS beeping.

FWIW our voltage drops about 20v when switching and using some loads.

He said the problem occurs when switching off the lights.  So how does your comment about switching on the load apply?  I really do not know much about it.

You really don’t understand transient loads/effects do you

Is the switch not defective? You switch off and then might have a power drop (due to defect), which activates the UPS. The defect is not hard and even fuse will not go,  situations differ.

Take out the switch and check it, It COULD be a cause.

The reading is now, one switch cause by switching off ledlight tubes of 8-18 W

Maybe try another switch, change, exchange from somewhere else?  See what happens then?

Not simple, as situation is not hard. Which could be due to changing poor or right power source (230 VAC)?

Measure voltage when it happens and /or when it doesnt happen.

Of course working on switches, power needs to be OFF. DOnt forget.

Measuring power , know where your hands are and holding. First think then act.

the switch is not defective... i've read the suggestions and so far nothing seems to explain the problem... thanks for all your advice... i will keep looking and go over your suggestions once again

No I don't and I think I made that clear.  But apparently not clear enough for you.  I'll try to do better next time.

Your UPS doesn't just respond to a power outages, it also senses voltage fluctuations and will adjust its power output such that it remains stable. In technical terms it's called a 'servo loop'.

What it probably happening is that when you switch something on or off in the house, there is a slight change in the voltage going to the UPS and it is responding as I've described above. My Zircon also bleeps occasionally with no obvious cause,

IMO there's nothing for you to worry about.

A really good UPS will detect OVER voltage as well as under voltage. It could be that turning off the light is bringing the voltage or current up over the threshold. Your UPS should have an interface (USB or other) so you can access the settings of the UPS and change sensitivity. If that is not the problem the UPS interface should have a log and tell you why it's tripping. I would venture to say it's fairly certain the lights are on the same circuit. A simple work around could be to put the UPS on a different circuit. If none of the above works.
