Loei 911 Rescue Association, on August 27 at 16.55, reported an accident involving a pickup truck transporting students that had collided and crashed into a house.

The incident occurred in front of Chiang Khan Kindergarten (Pathummasongkhro) in Chiang Khan District, Loei Province, within the jurisdiction of the Chiang Khan Police Station.

The red pickup truck, with license plate Loei, crashed into a residential property at No. 69, Chiang Khan Subdistrict, Chiang Khan District. The accident resulted in 10 injuries to the student passengers, the ages were not released. The injured individuals received initial first aid on-site and were subsequently transported to Chiang Khan Hospital.

The incident is under investigation, but the driver told police that the pickup suffered brake failure and he lost control and could not avoid the accident.

Do the authorities ever check these reported brake failures as there does appear to be a multitude of them in Thailand or is it just a standard excuse that the police accept ....LOL

I suppose "collides with house" is more face saving that "crashes into house" as it implies the house was moving as well so unavoidable.

If you suffer a brake failure, you do not have to lose control at the same time. The only thing needed is to hold the clutch, take away the foot from the gas and softly use the handbrake at the same time as slowly release the foot pressure on the clutch. During that time, stay on the road, slide to the side and avoid oncoming traffic.

Typical inability to control his car. But I suppose he was busy on Line.

Even there was a brake failure it wouldn't come out of the blue.

You're making an assumption that he knew how to drive to begin with!

All modern vehicles have dual circuit braking systems with each circuit activating the brake on two wheels.

Only if one circuit fails and the driver ignores the big red light on his dash would he be left with no brakes if the remaining circuit fails.

Overloading and/or lack of maintenance could affect brake performance and his ability to stop in time, but that is not brake failure but operator failure.

Who's job is it to Maintain the Truck, the Schools or the driver, like the last poor sod who was expected to pay for repairs on a very old truck that belonged to the school, out of his 10K a month wage.

Brake failure as in what... they failed completely or just couldn't stop in time before hitting the house?

we got hit by a young couple  and they immediatley ran over to us and the young lady said  I'm so sorry..  my brakes did not work

turns out she was not driving  her boy friend was and she was YouTubing  when they hit us

it really was brake failure,   he never hit the brakes they were too busy yakety yaking

DMF's were so smart as to post the vid online for all to see..    Insurance paid,  and they got a 500 Bhat fine

cost me a week without a car ...

Brake failure translation =    On my mobile reading messages so didn't respond quickly enough to avoid a crash.
