Not the best interview but way better than anything Trump has done.

Seriously? A MAGA cultist bringing up mental sharpness?   And why aren't we all harping on the oldest man EVER running for president NOW?  Hmmm?

  • If these are "bombshells", if this is Kamala at her best, then Trump has nothing to worry about. A very gentle Dana Bash gave her trouble over the course of a grand total of about 20 minutes' time.  S

KhunLA is right, you do realise that Russia's GDP growth exceeded that of the United States in 2023, and will again in 2024?

When did that happen the last time that Russia's GDP growth outpaced that of America?

Good job, Joe and Kamala.

Only a really stupid person would make such a silly claim as war machines help is keeping the economy gong

I am really happy Russian soldiers die

It's not actually. Russia is spending 5.9% of GDP on its military. Saudi Arabia is spending 7.1 % of GDP and Algeria 8.2.   And nobody in their right mind would say that  Saudi Arabia and Algeria are "war economies".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_with_highest_military_expenditures

Fact is Russia is not an economy where the vast majority of its production is geared to war production, far from it.

The reason Russia's economy is doing so well is that it underwent years of austerity when  Russia accumulated gigantic cash reserves, which it now is able to spend to help the economy.

Russia's GDP boost from military spending belies wider economic woes

Russia's GDP rebounded last year from 2022 contraction

Growth of 3.6% built on soaring military spending

Economists question impact of GDP growth on population

Labour issues point to wider problems, wages set to drop

Also high inflation and very high interest rates.

They pushed inflation with too much stimulus.

Fair point - it definitely did have an effect - the issue is whether that extra stimulus made a big difference as compared to the massive covid handouts, and the supply side issues, and other factors such as the Ukraine war.  These things fueled inflation in most developed economies.

But the economy is strong now under his watch and inflation reduced to sustainable levels with interest rate cuts now much more likely. Whether it's something he did - or simply letting the economy do it's thing - is a different issue but I think it's hard to say the economy isn't good right now.

And Starmer has had the Thatcher painting taken down in number 10 as he feels uncomfortable with it ...He will soon know how uncomfortable things are going to get for him

The painting was moved, not taken down. As much as I am a respectful admirer of former PM Thatcher, I can understand  why PM Starmer would want her portrait removed from a room which he is likely to work from. Would you want to have a portrait of your ex staring down at you in your bedroom? The portrait has been relocated to another room at No. 10. This is not an unusual practice. It is the purview of the sitting PM to  select works of art to decorate the PM's workplace and home. The UK Daily Mail is trying to make this an issue, when it is not.

Since Biden’s announcement to step aside, Harris has solidified her nomination, garnered Democratic enthusiasm, and built a robust campaign fund, all while gaining a slight lead over Trump in polls.

If she was as good as posters on here make her out to be she'd be shredding Trump in polls, but she can't get ahead by more than a smidgen, and that's while she's still in the honeymoon phase.

The market decides the economy, not politicians.

But they set an environment - spending both in terms of amount and priorities, good infrastructure, tax policy, policy on helping businesses invest and then making sure the market is free so that there is real competition and not the big boys controlling everything to kill competition.

What do you think of the Trump proposed tariff?  Could have a very negative effect on inflation, consumer spending, letting the free market decide on investment priorities.

And this is precisely why we should not let an economic lunatic like Kamala Harris into power, who's announced she wants to fix grocery prices. Economists have laughed at her.

I was being sarcastic about the market decides- could you not tell? Of course the market is skewed by the 1%- they didn't get rich honestly IMO. Government will do whatever their masters tell them of course. They don't get all that campaign money without strings. Free market, LOL. Never has been and never will IMO. They just have good propaganda.

Trump's tariffs- I don't care. Do I care about rich people paying more for their EV- not a wit.

All that will happen if they freeze grocery prices at the store is that the companies will screw the farmers over what they pay them.

Not just economists. If she had any policies of her own, I'd probably laugh at them too.

This is what happens when people are in government most of their life on the big money- Zero idea of what real life is.

Dana Bash also interviewed JD Vance a couple of weeks ago.  A solo interview,  no need for anyone to hold his hand.  The contrast in style and demeanor in Bash are remarkable.

Vance has less experience and 20 years younger. Harris is hopeless for someone of her age and experience. How is she going to deal with Putin if Bash scares her one on one?
