Why Are You Even Here? The Surprising Attitudes of Some Expats in Thailand
Nah , knowledge is power in my book. and denying ones self the ability to understand what is being said puts one at a huge disadvantage. Nobody needs to fool themselves that they are perfect fluent speakers on a par with the natives. that is never going to happen but it is not that difficult to advance a bit further than sawasdee khrap The tones can be confusing for us , probably just as confusing for a Thai when the stuttering foreigner keeps repeating just one word and his tone changes in line with his frustration. Its not hard to build a vocabulary with the tones learnt parrot fashion, and adding a few more words can help bring a bit of context into what one is trying to say every little helps I never take much notice of what Ex pats say , and certainly would not let them influence any decisions I make. In my opinion that guy gave you very bad advice The Thais do indeed talk a lot of khrapp to each other , its actually amazing that they can talk so much but say so little , but they are not that much different to any other nation. They may well talk about us, why wouldn't they, but they are a lot less likely to do so if they think we understand what they are saying , a few words in Thai to them quickly stops any of that, The one overwhelming reason to learn Thai for all expats is to take away a bit of control from the missis, and its always handy to know what the family is up to. It also builds ones self confidence and help one function in society as a man again, as opposed to an overgrown illiterate retarded mummys boy, with a wife who has assumed the role of carer For me its a no brainer and I struggle to understand those who simply refuse to try, there may be tones but the grammar is much simpler than english no need to memorise all those irregular verb conjugations not to mention all the obscure tenses that exist in english -

Elderly Woman Dies After Electricity Cut Despite Pleas for Aid
In a tragic turn of events, a 68-year-old bedridden woman, Kian Leephon, from Nakhon Phanom's Wang Yang district died after her electricity supply was cut, despite her niece's desperate pleas. The power outage, caused by overdue payments, disabled Kian’s oxygen concentrator, essential for her survival. On 1st October, a private firm arrived around 9am with a Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) order to disconnect power due to unpaid bills. Kian’s niece begged them to wait, promising swift payment, but the officials proceeded, cutting off electricity at 9.20am. By 11.49am, after the niece paid, power was restored, but the delay proved fatal for Kian. PEA regulations usually provide leeway for households with medical dependencies, though it was discovered Kian's residence wasn’t registered for these exceptions. PEA expressed condolences, attributing the cut to protocol adherence. Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has launched an investigation and urged awareness of protections for vulnerable users. Registration requirements for families with such medical needs have been clarified to prevent recurrence. Kian’s niece expressed overwhelming grief and disbelief, questioning the compassion shown by the working staff during the ordeal. File photo for reference only -- 2024-10-14 -

What happen to the insurance when selling the car
What you are saying is only true if the policy is named drivers. If it's the more normal and abundant "any driver" policy then my reply was correct. -

Top Suspect in 2004 Tak Bai Crackdown May Evade Prosecution
In a case nearing its two-decade statute of limitations, retired Lieutenant General Pisan Wattanawongkiri, now a list MP for Thailand's ruling Pheu Thai Party, is poised to avoid facing justice over his alleged role in the 2004 Tak Bai crackdown. Despite being the top suspect, Pisan is among seven ex-officials sought by police for the deaths of 78 protesters, as legal proceedings edge towards the October 25 expiration date. On that fateful day, soldiers and police fired upon a protest in Narathiwat, resulting in seven fatalities. The authorities arrested 1,370 individuals, who later suffered further deaths due to overcrowding during transport. The case languished without charges for 19 years until survivors and families pursued justice in court this year. Despite arrest warrants being issued, Pisan and at least one other suspect have reportedly fled Thailand, citing medical needs overseas. Pisan, who served over 15 years in the troubled southern region, denies ordering violence, claiming personal ties to the victims. Thai authorities are now engaging Interpol to locate the absconding suspects, as legal action hangs precariously in the balance with mere days before the statute of limitations extinguishes hopes for accountability in the Tak Bai incident. Should A Woman Be Allowed to hold the office of President of the USA?
I can see what you are saying and understand. Definitely in the west they are more that way than they were in the 60s/70s. However, IMO many dont start that way - they get 'influenced' - and that is what screws them up. Here in Thailand the good ones seem fairly impervious to the self-centred feminism driven BS. They want to look slim and healthy with a nice face and with good figures. That wish for beauty has been mostly driven out by the fat ugly feminists in the west who portrayed that ideal as exploitation of women driven by the patriarchy who want them to look 'young and attractive' (and men now win beauty contests). Same with prostitution - they blame the men and say they are exploiting the women, when the truth is it is the other way around. A good looking guy can stand on walking street all he wants, but the only 'attention' will come from the gay men. Women exploit men's desires for financial reward - that is the reality - always have and always will - and that is the way it should be - to say it is anything else (slaves/kids aside of course) is feminist BS. I say congrats to those males who left that cesspool of feminist driven BS and travelled to those places around the world lik Thailand, where their money is not exploited by feminists who marry them, and where they can use that money to be with young attractive girls/women who are feminine and lovely. There are a lot of men who would rather just suck it up, than do something about it - well done to those brave enough to 'quit'. I know one guy that was married 4 times and 'financially raped' each time. Now he is living tough on the Pension with SFA to his name, and the kids he 'paid for' rarely ever make contact with him. I knew another one that was totally loyal and after retiring he and the wife were basically their kid's baby sitters - and he thought it was great ( we agreed to disagree - he was a good bloke). The wife divorced him suddenly a few years ago and he was shattered - ended up living poor and died within a year - broken heart and alcohol does that to a man. And I have quite a few other stories too - I was involved with Lone Fathers Association - and not one of them is a story where the woman was being screwed over by the system. Question for all the male feminists and pretenders here - Why is it that when a woman divorces a man she 'contributed' to his wealth and deserves to be 'compensated' for the rest of her life - but when she divorces a criminal (or he is caught and sent to prison for life), she had nothing to do with it and is in now way involved or accountable?? The answer is obvious to those that have 'seen' the truth - and it happens a lot - a lot lot more than you think. Men dont go on tiktok and complain about things, like women do. Wake up boys.
