He says he's staying alive long enough to vote for Harris in Georgia and hopefully see her win.

Does have a good heart, apparently very good.

No wars (US involved) started, ended or on going during his administration 👍

Just the Cold War.

Aside from that, sucked as a president, and a much better peanut farming businessman.  I remember his tenor at the WH, oh so good.   Silly unemployment, inflation and interest rates.

Jet fuel prices doubled at the end of his administration, hammering the final nail in the one airlines I worked for (went belly up), and forced the next one I worked for, into bankruptcy ... :cheesy:

THANKS JIMMY ... no really, THANKS.   As that opened my eyes to dependency on corporations.   After lay off of that airlines (age 26), I went self employment, and never looked back 😎

20 more years of S D & RR, till retiring here / TH :cheesy:

Was there not an Iranian hostage rescue event during Carter’s reign?

Yes, a complete failure and probably why the Iranians refused to release the hostages till his term ended. Probably sums up his presidency- a good idea gone wrong.

However, hardly a war or starting a war.

I voted for John Anderson, Carter was not an effective President but nevertheless extremely intelligent (nuclear engineer) and first class morally. HBD Jimmy!

Gawd. What other choice is there? Such a shame the US system, bit like UK, is geared just to one of two parties. Having said that, whoever wins; just have someone with charisma speaking for EVERYONE and not some mouthpiece pushing the agenda of their own cliquey group. Unlikely to see someone with the class of Carter again, although there are always capable people around, like Jake Sullivan. Not that they would want that misery though…
