Brilliant - as one of the most delusional fools on this forum - you have proven yourself to deviate from 'normal by a significant amount'....      .... the idea that you think you are normal

I doubt it is going to be a train wreck.

They are very good businesses. Big turnovers.

Wish you all best for your business venture and be very interested hearing all about it.

Are you going to buy a property or will you be leasing?

I would ask them to give you an exclusive zone. I have heard before that the parent company who also runs their own stores (as well as selling franchises) will open up close to yours if they see a high turnover.

Good luck.

Wife's previous job used to be with CP (although long time ago). She was a franchise analyst and opened close to 200 7/11 stores. I am sure we will not buy the building as it is outside the budget. Probably go for the cheapest tier. I am getting increasingly bored here and my life consists of ranting on forums. This would be aa fun project with a dose of required stress to keep my brain working.

To succeed with this and get any decent revenue you need 4-5 stores, not one.

I want perks that i used to get owning a business, not the money. I used to get hundreds of free hotel stays and numerous free flights due to spending. It's the revenue baby, not the profit.

Perfect!

Really?

What are the profit margins on turnover?
They take in a lot of cash consistently.

How will you control sticky hands in the cash registers?

Right !  That’s going to work

Many get into 7/11 etc to get farm land tax free! You stick a few carrots down and no taxes...

Later, when land has becomes valuable, you develop houses & business on it.

Did I say it wouldn’t.

That's good advice.

When we lived in Bangkok, we had a 7-11 on the ground floor of the building next door.  300 meters up the soi at Ramkhamhaeng, there were 3 7-11's at the intersection.  There were another dozen 7-11's within five minutes walk.

Oh, I thought in previous posts she had been en executive at Siemens.

Anyway, after opening 200 stores, she certainly would know all the ins and outs, so why you need advice from all those pensioners with their paid for girlfriends?

Because he made it clear he's looking for any updated information as his wife worked for the CP group a long time ago....

So... any updated info from people who have recently gone through the process is certainly not going to be harmful.

I do often wonder about such pointless responses...

The only response I have - is about the location of such an edeavor...

Either on the ground floor of massive apartment complex.

Or, an area with ease of access (easy parking in front).

- AND as has been rumoured / reported - any successful franchise will be mirrored by a CP Owned 7-11 built in close vicinity as soon as CP see positive returns.

Previoys wife worked for Siemens. My wife works in industrial manufacturing. But It is ok I do not expect people to remember everything they read, that would be creepy.

And please do point out where am I asking for advice?

Showing your superiority complex again Richard, you have been told this many times now by others in other threads.

Why you don't work on it, or get lost?

In contrast - you've not left me wondering at all about your comments - you already highlight the inane extent of your character !!! :coffee1:

Offer something of benefit to the discussion or don't get involved... Its not hard... (well, it might be for you - who knows how you struggle mentally, other than the frequent hints you give on these threads).

at least for those who haven't blocked you already for spamming all the threads with rubbish...

Though I find it quite sad for you...

Most seem to do well. But location location location and then you would be paying big bucks for rent etc. Dunno if 100% Thai ownership is required on 7-11 franchises also…

Being tied to CP sounds a bit naff. Maybe consider a Famiiy Mart.

   Why wouldnt it work ?

Because this would be a franchise. 7-11 is an over exposed retailer in in Thailand. It already has 14,000+ shops and  wants to open hundreds more outlets in Thailand, but they will come at the expense of driving  small independent  family shops out of business or burdening individual new franchise holders with high licensing fees . CP All owns the master license to 7-11 in Thailand and if you look closely at the prepared processed foods on sale, they are almost all CP sourced. The individual franchise holders have to purchase their inventory from the master license holder. CP All owns some of the most profitable locations.  7-11 Thailand allows shops to be in close proximity to each other which  does not support individual profitability.

Seven and i is the master company for 7-11 worldwide and it is in Japan. It has received a purchase offer from  Canadian Couche Tarde/Circle K at US $38.5 billion. This would certainly change the dynamic and could force CP to either try and buy out its share or to at the very least face a challenge to the current license fees. All this to say, is that this may not be the right time to be an individual franchise holder at 7-11.

The minor competition to 7-11 is Central Groups'  Tops at 600 +/- shops.   Japan's Lawson has 195 shops in Thailand. Both Tops and Lawson  want to expand.  Maybe one should look to those chains for a potentially more profitable franchise opportunity.

Family Mart was closed by Central Group in 2023. The stores were converted to Tops or in the case of unprofitable locations, disposed of.

Oh ok, fair play. So much for keeping one’s ear to the ground 🙂

Dick is ok. Just gets easily wound up. Fragile ego.

i don’t know how much he knows about 7/11s though?

I was in the bank a couple of months back and saw a woman with a bagload of cash.

i asked the teller who I knew from previous visits who was that woman? She answered that she owned a 7/11.

so turnover is good but that doesn’t mean profits are.

The profits are barely 30,000 a month for the owners after all expenses using the lowest tier investment at around 1 million baht. It is also a lot of stress as keeping track of inventory (expiration dates) is a lot of work. The biggest profits (according to wife who actually did open close to 200 stores) is fresh produce and basically anything that is kept in the fridge. It can also be an epic loss if you are not careful.

Fun fact. You will probably be rejected opening a  7/11 store if you hold a full time job., so we are looking into this if she loses her job due to horrid Auto economy right now.
