Last time i ventured into the sea in Hua hin (this time last year) I was bitten by something particularly loathsome. Is it still as bad? Are there places not so bad. best way to treat

In the last 12 months I have spent a lot of time in various beaches all the way from Cha-Am to Pranburi. Pretty much all of the coast between these two areas so I do have a fair amount of experience. I would suggest against swimming in the sea without a wetsuit, unless you stay close to the shore. Jellyfish galore in this region sadly. Between July to recently they were everywhere. Not even sure about the jellyfish larvae you are talking about, or really how to treat them, but they are not your biggest issue.

thankyou. I tend to agree. the beach is so beautiful but the sea isn't pleasant. We are back in hua hin. Last time i went swimming here without a wetsuit and came out with bites all over my back.  will stick to the swimming pools.

Jellyfish have been common at Ao Manao (adjacent to Prachuap Khiri Khan) during October.  Local knowledge indicates that November is regarded as the peak 'Jellyfish Season' period.  I have a personal rule of avoiding swimming for the 2 months of October/November. As a former marine biologist, I have an interest in this topic.  There is an excellent (rather academic) volume that you can access for jellyfish information for SE Asia (see: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/350399131_Field_Guide_to_the_Jellyfish_of_Western_Pacific) - but for a more understandable quick guide - https://jellywatch.org/ is useful to join in order to receive/contribute to, information on jellyfish sightings 😀
