October 25, 20241 yr Popular Post Lately, I’ve been dealing with this strange and pretty embarrassing nighttime issue. For some reason, I keep waking myself up around 2 or 3 a.m. with, well… really loud and explosive sleep farts. It’s almost like my body waits until I’m completely out cold to let it rip, as if it’s got a mind of its own. I’ve tried cutting out dairy, beans, broccoli—pretty much everything that’s supposed to cause gas—but no luck. And the worst part? I share a bed with my missus, and I’m pretty sure she’s not happy about it. She hasn’t said anything (yet), but the look she gave me this morning was… well, let’s just say it spoke volumes. I know things like stress, age, maybe even anxiety can mess with your system, but this feels like a whole new level. Anyone else out there battling with the nocturnal “booty blues”? And should I be worried that maybe it's something more serious, or is this just what my nights are gonna be like from now on?
October 25, 20241 yr Author Also, I don't drink alcohol, I don't smoke cigarettes, I don't drink any carbonated drinks, but I have been drinking a bit more coffee lately than I usually do. I wonder if maybe the additional coffee could be the cause of this serious gas problem I am having? The gas cramps can be really uncomfortable at times too!
October 26, 20241 yr Popular Post Looking at the posts above, it really shows the members attitude on this forum. Have anyone above been thinking about that this might be a serious problem for the OP? How would it be if you show some common sense and respect, and try to help instead? Otherwise, a good option is to refrain from posting garbage. To OP: @123Stodg As you say, you have been trying to cut down on everything that causes gas, and it does not work. Are you taking medicines like antibiotics or eating to quick, as that might also be a cause? Sleeping position can also matter, as the best one is sleeping in a side position. Another idea might be to eat more times with smaller portions. There are also a lot of known medical condition, that I believe you have already read about online. If nothing help, It might be best to see a doctor/specialist.

If serious medical suggestions were needed then he wouldould have posted in the Medical subforum.

October 26, 20241 yr Popular Post I always give my wife the benefit of the 'Dutch Oven' needless to say she's not too happy. Dutch oven Farting under the blanket then lifting it up trapping your significant other under the covers Rosemary wasn't expecting a dutch oven but she got one this morning.

Problem solved!

October 26, 20241 yr Popular Post I found putting a small piece of garden hose in my butt, vents the gas all night, so a very sound sleep. Can't say the same about the dog busting loose while sleeping. OK as long as aimed away from my head
October 26, 20241 yr It's the body's natural mechanism as you age to wake you up in time for your night time pee, thus avoiding the worse outcome of bed wetting.

For reference: Aside from being a potential source of embarrassment, passing gas is common and usually harmless. Most people pass gas between 13 and 21 times per day. Flatulence during the night is generally due to diet and lifestyle, although there are some digestive disorders that can cause excess gas............pressure in the anal sphincter muscle fluctuates in cycles throughout the day. This muscle is more relaxed during sleep, and it controls whether or not gas present in the large intestine is released.........By making lifestyle changes or addressing underlying health issues, you may be able to reduce your nighttime or morning flatulence. https://www.sleepfoundation.org/physical-health/can-you-fart-in-your-sleep
October 26, 20241 yr I know the geezer in the next Condo has a habit of letting rippers go early mornings
October 26, 20241 yr Popular Post Reminds me of an old joke.... Wife takes her husband to the doctor because he is constantly passing gas. While in the examination room, the husband passes gas a few times, and the wife says to the doctor, "see, now you understand the nature of the problem perfectly." Then she adds: "I only thank God that his farts don't smell. Isn't there anything you can do doctor???" The doctor gives her a long look and says, "Well, first thing I think we should do is have your sense of smell checked."
October 26, 20241 yr Popular Post I have had a tookay not far from my bedroom windows for several years now. Shortly after I turn off my bed table lamp, it lets out a croak, as if to wish me a good night's sleep. It does the same whenever I make a noise at night, including muttering to myself or farting. Helps me to fall back to sleep. When it croaks after I fart, I sometimes wonder if it is mimicking me.
October 26, 20241 yr If you check Google "what to do against farting" you'll find a lot of advice. Try 👍

October 26, 20241 yr I suggest the OP examines the product of his nocturnal histrionic effects for flammable content. Smoking in bed could cause an undesired explosion.
October 26, 20241 yr At least you not followed through! 🤣 Then the missus will have a change of face! 🤣 Joking apart, probably food related, porridge oats is the worst for me, or lentils. Try eliminating certain foods, one by one to see if they make a difference.
