Pattaya, Chonburi Province – On October 30th, 2024, at 4:06 AM, R.T.O. Wuttikorn Plodprong, deputy chief of the Pattaya City Police Station, received a report of a shooting incident in front of the Moo Krata Baek Kap Din Sam restaurant on Petchtrakul Road in Pattaya City, Nongprue Subdistrict. The report was promptly relayed to Pol. Col. Nawin Thirawit, chief of the Pattaya City Police Station, who led a team of patrol and investigation officers to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers found tourists, bus operators, and local residents in a state of panic. The scene showed signs of a fight, including a damaged motorcycle, scattered belongings, and blood on the ground. Both parties involved had fled in separate directions before the police arrived.

Eyewitness Mr. Amnuay, 65, reported seeing a gunman approach alone and shoot at the injured group, believed to be foreigners. The injured individual fell to the ground before being quickly taken away by friends in a black Alphard van, whose license plate number remains unknown. The gunman had already fled the scene.

Pattaya shooting: Gunman opens fire on revellers
by Bob Scott Bob

A terrifying shooting incident early this morning has left both locals and tourists reeling in Pattaya City. The drama unfolded at 4.06am, today, October 30, on Petchtrakul Road, right outside the Moo Krata Baek Kap Din Sam restaurant in the Nongprue subdistrict.

Panic set in as police received urgent calls about the shocking event, prompting the deputy chief of Pattaya City Police Station to alert the chief. They quickly mobilised a team of officers to rush to the scene.

When they arrived, chaos reigned. A wrecked motorcycle lay abandoned, personal belongings were strewn across the pavement, and ominous bloodstains marred the ground. The suspects had fled in various directions, leaving behind a crowd of distraught witnesses, including startled tourists and bus drivers.

A 65 year old eyewitness, Amnuay, described the harrowing moment when a lone gunman approached a group of what appeared to be foreign visitors and opened fire.

“I saw someone hit the ground.”

Amnuay added that the injured party was whisked away by companions in a black Alphard van. The vehicle’s registration remains a mystery, and the shooter had vanished by the time the police arrived.

Initial investigations suggest the violence may have stemmed from a heated argument at a nearby entertainment venue. Witnesses reported that the injured man and the gunman were likely from the same group, possibly Thai nationals, who had been in a heated exchange before the shooting erupted. The frightening scene sent onlookers fleeing in all directions.

The investigation is still underway, with authorities working tirelessly to piece together the details of this shocking incident.

Directly across the soi from the Hollywood nightclub at the Bae Ka Din restaurant on Chalermphrakiat Soi 3, NOT Phettrakul Road (or"Petchtrakul" as it's called in the Pattaya Mail article). :glare:
(Phettrakul Road is on the other side of the Hollywood and runs from the Hollywood Disco to the back side of Central Marina and then to the "rear" of Terminal 21.
Chalermphrakiat Soi 3 is the "short-cut" route to  get from the back side of Central Marina to #3 road by driving south for a bit on Phettrakul and then turning onto Chalermphrakiat Soi 3.)

And in the Pattaya Mail article it says the gunman was a part of the group that left "an entertainment venue" (Hollywood Disco most likely as it's like 40 meters away) and that they had engaged in a fist fight prior to the shooting.

It's a little confusing as at first the article says:

Quote

"reported seeing a gunman approach alone and shoot at the injured group, believed to be foreigners."

And then in the very next paragraph it says:

Quote

"witnesses indicated that the injured person and the perpetrator were part of the same group, likely Thais,"

So, "Thai foreigners" ? :omfg:

Oh and - "at 4:06 am".

Ah "closing time". "Back in the day" closing time at the bars was quite often "fight time" as certain people would decide if they weren't going to get laid that night, then they may as well try to pick a fight with someone. Preferably someone that was going to get lucky.

It was a lol to be walking back to the base after the bars closed, especially on Fridays/Saturdays, and see strings of cop cars parked on the street just waiting for "something" to happen.
You learned that it was a good idea to finish your drinks and be out the door at least 15 minutes before closing - unless you were one of those types that sticks around to the very end hoping "something" would happen.

Being drunk and stupid isn't a reason to be accosted, and it happens a lot here daily.

Being drunk and stupid is most certainly a reason why people would be accosted.

A fool is far easier to rob than a sober person with their wits about them.

That can and does happen anywhere and everywhere.  No need to beat your dead horse about Pattaya over it.

And robbing and accosting anyone is okay, even if the victim is drunk or acting stupid? I'm thinking it's better to stay away from those types, and not victimize anyone.

Where does anyone say it is ok?

it is merely a fact of life that being stupid or careless makes you vulnerable.

Thankfully this kind of nonsense is relatively rare in Thailand, I am from the US and we have a mass shooting there nearly every day. Americans absolutely adore their guns and their violence.

Happening daily isn't relatively rare, and Thailand has more intentional homicides than the US, and gun crime is rising daily here also, along with the regular daily attacks with sticks, knives and machetes. Yes, we like guns, because America has thousands of hunters, but we abhor violence. Not sure who you know there who likes it. Many mass shootings happen in Thailand also, although not as much as the US, at least for now.

There are bullets flying in every country, including yours. In every neighborhood, in every city. In the west it's 10 times as bad. The very worst is the US, where I'm from. My house is in a neighborhood that's very nice most of the time, but there have been shootings and murders right near me. 2-3  houses away from mine. So don't be a hypocrite. It isn't funny, even when you're being sarcastic. People are suffering no matter where it is.

Yes, only hunters have guns in America and then only firearms suitable for hunting.

And of course, those US road rage incidences, police chases, and riots   that are all over YouTube, are committed by illegal immigrants not peace-loving citizens.

The world famous  family friendly resort strikes again.... keep the thin veneer going and cover-up the crap underneath.

Gun violence in America is a phenomenon of the minority communities who have been exploited by Democrats  and victimized by their policies since the Great Society
