Like I said, in the Thai government's opinion men married to Thai women for 15+ years can go to Hell.

They actually give men married to Thai women 5 years off the application process

Yes can see all angles but quite frankly most of us are ashamed to call ourselves British and they way all colours of Government "treat"  their own British-born and bred Citizens yes we have enough illegals and so-called Stateless refugees and many of us have wonderful Thai families to support.
However, like many other countries, the ones who contribute zilch get all the benefits.

Yes agreed we know we will never be Thai but we certainly look after our wonderful families and these Stateless people how much salary would they bring in and yes in many other countries get all the benefits going, Just saying!!!

But you don't contribute, how much tax and social security did you pay last year on your salary earned in Thailand?

Expats & retirees excluded from Citizenship deal.

So what?

Any problems with that?

Nice to be here as an expat.

That is enough.

Fine by me, as long as they quietly shelve their plans of taxing expats.

Of course you don't, have you contributed any tax or social security payments to the Thai system?

I was asking Bradiston the question how to apply for citizenship, and how it would affect other aspects of my life, yet you jump on my back like I'm some kind of freeloader. Please read my post in the manner that it was intended.

I have no interest in having Thai nationality either.

I have no interest either.

To those from the 1st world country(that does not allow dual citizenship), becoming a Thai national is a Loss, instead of Gain.

Visa waiver entry entitlement is the first  to go.

Many 1st & 3rd world countries impose strict visa requirements on Thai people.

They often have to submit  heaps of papers simply to prove they are genuine tourist(not a undercover unauthorized migrant workers).

And the stay period is also often pretty limited.

This is meant to address refugees and those who have spent their lives in Thailand, and are stateless. It is a decent thing to do.

The question arises as to whether it improves their life.  Once you are Thai min wage kicks in as well as taxation.

Wonder how many chamber maids will lose their jobs.  Also does that mean all welfare benefits are now eligible

I have lived here for 20 years and have been married to a Thai wife for 6 of those, so do I qualify for citizenship, how do I apply, how much would it cost me, and would I then qualify for free medical care and be allowed to vote? Also how would it affect my pension from the UK as I would no longer be a British citizen?

I suggest you ask around those who've done it, and/or ask a lawyer. You'd still be a UK citizen as a dual national, so it wouldn't affect your pension. I don't think there's free medical care here. I have dual nationality. Not Thai. But it's never ever been an issue.

Irrelevant to the discussion...you seem to have some form of mental illness... have a nice life.... can you even attempt to dispute what I said.

What form of mental illness, gaslighter? Crummy troll. You claim everything here is BS. So I say, go back to your own country. Why are you here?

You can apply. You just have to meet the requirements. Being married to a Thai isnt all that's required. I'm not even sure if it is required.

mate, you do post BS.. so what's your point. You can use "gaslighting" if you wish, that doesn't mean I am wrong, it really means you just do not understand... I am still waiting for you to repute anything I said... so please, stop embarrassing yourself. Also, I do NOT call EVERYTHING here BS... so stop the ever increasing BS. Go quietly to your room. No-one here supports anything you have said.

It isn't required but shaves 5 years of the process

How does the expat status of people from Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia differ from expats from western countries? Theyrw both expats. Also, I'd say it's safe to say, that expats and retirees from western countries have more expendable income than any of the neighboring Asian countries. They therefore stimulate tue economy quote a bit more per capita...

The people from Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia are stateless.

What's your state?
