K bank E-mail with Tax Forms attached ?

Hi everyone.

I have a Thai TIN because I live here and pay taxes, but I also pay taxes in my country of origin (European) for income produced there.

in addition to TIN Thai I also have to write that of my country?

Because on page 2 it asks if I also pay taxes in another countries other Thailand and usa.

It appears the emails are being sent mostly to non-US citizens.

Because you inform the Thai bank of your UK TIN, doesn't mean the UK bank automatically receives your Thai TIN

 It asks are you a 'resident' for tax purposes. I am not resident in my home country and have told the tax authorities so, but I do pay tax on income in that country, so I would tick 'no'

Uk citizen staying in Bangkok.  I don't think Kbank has my email address, so I'm waiting to see if I'll receive anything in the post. Either way I'll visit Kbank next week. Would be good if others give feedback after their visit to the bank.

Too much, I suppose, to expect the TRD to adopt a similar online registration process in order to obtain a TIN!

But your UK bank may, in any event, already be aware of your Thai TIN as a result of a self-certification form (example below) they asked you to complete back in 2016 preparatory to the implementation of CRS in the UK!

I was just on the phone with Kasikorn, and asked them about the documents.

Those that opened any account after April 2023 will not receive the email, since they will already have filled in the documents when opening the account

I took the FATCA form in. I did not include the IRS forms, not American.

 

Some puzzlement from the staff, they phoned head office. Asked me if I had received an email from Kasikorn, answer yes.

 

They checked the form, took a photocopy of my passport and savings book together. Finish.

 

I included the number from my Thai pink card. I did not include my Australian tax number, or any address in Australia.

Perhaps they entered lt incorrectly 20 years ago. 

I do get emais from them from online banking but that wax provided separately.

Went in central pattaya  branch 10 mins ago 

they filled out the forms for me

I just gave them my uk home address and my national insurance number 

all done in 5 mins

for giving your English details you don't have a Thai TIN, correct?

Hi, I am not American. I got the email as well. I went to bank, didn't got any answers. So I complained by email.

The self-certification form sent by Kasikorn that you need to fill in, allows to state that you do not have a Thai TIN when you provide a valid reason.  An accepted and valid reason is that you can state that your income is already taxed in your home-country, and that you would therefore be exempted from paying taxes on it in Thailand.

Also note that the 'certified' passport-copy you need to provide is simply bad english-thai speak and it simply means that the copy of your passport ID-page needs to carry your signature.

We should issue a complaint that we as their  'valued customers' did receive such a confusing and alarming e-mail, that didn't even mention that you can settle the whole thing at your local KK branche and that you only need to bring your Passport and your Tax ID-number from your home-country.

Do Thai TIN expire when you have no work permit anymore ?

I have a Thai TIN from when I was working in Thailand back in 2020 but now no longer working for that company and not working at the moment.

 

Tried to log in on revenue department website and seems I can still access my dashboard with my TIN but nothing declared on it.

I know what "certified" actually means, thanks. However, I also know what "certified" means in practical terms when dealing with banks in Thailand. However, you go ahead and get a notarised copy of your passport and email it to them by all means. 👍
