Albo Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Could be a lie for sm attention. If in Pattaya could definitely also be Indians. Temple shoe theft is very much a thing in India
Wuvu2 Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 I was ten days walk into the backcountry of Nepal in the 80's staying at a guest house with a drunk obnoxious German. We all left our boots by the wood stove to dry overnight and guess who's boots had disappeared by morning? Either the dude on the beach was an <deleted>, or the crime was committed by someone who usually does their shoe shopping outside the temple doors. No news here...lets move along.

KhunBENQ Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 In other news: in an outrageous act this morning a morally depraved neighbour dog stole the daughters left shoe. A broom and short chase managed to recover the robbed shoe.
Woke to Sounds Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 My flip flops were stolen from My Khe beach in Da Nang. Size 11. Wanna bet it was another foreigner? Vigilance! 1
twizzian Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Having big feet, my shoes are mostly useless to most thieves, but I’ll be more vigilant next after reading this terrible news. On the other hand it could have been worse for him he was TikToking in Cambodia
klauskunkel Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 My man, your shoes are being trafficked to North Korea, where they will end up in a stew pot. Sorry. 2
lordgrinz Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Always wondered "What if?" when taking my shoes off at temples with thousands of others, so far so good.
mikebell Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 I never buy any shoes. I just trade them in at any shop which insists you go in barefooted. 1

TikTok user @imlukematthew shared a video yesterday, November 25, detailing his experience. He explained that he had ridden his motorcycle to a beach, left his shoes beneath it, and found them missing upon his return. “I’ve just been robbed in Thailand. I came to the beach, parked my motorcycle, left my shoes with it, and now they’re gone.” The clip also showed the exact spot where the shoes were left, highlighting that they were taken from directly under the motorcycle. The foreigner further expressed his disbelief and annoyance. “Someone stole my shoes off the motorcycle. Now I have feet but no shoes. Look, they’re gone. What’s going on? Why would someone steal shoes? My God, they were worth 2,500 baht, and they’ve just been taken. What’s going on? My God, do you really think someone just took them? Why? This is a bad day. What’s going on?” As the post gained traction, numerous users commented, offering possible explanations and sharing similar experiences. Many speculated that the culprit might have been a dog, potentially having sneaked off with the shoes. Others shared their frustrations over the frequent disappearance of footwear, regardless of where they leave them, be it at the beach, a temple, or even their doorstep. This incident also sheds light on the cultural practice of leaving shoes outside, which is common in many Asian countries, including Thailand. Visitors are often advised to be mindful of where they leave their shoes, especially in public or busy areas. Despite the frustration, many accept it as a cultural quirk and adjust to it over time, reported KhaoSod. Or he forgot that he came without shoes? 😂
Real Name Hidden Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 I had a new pair of Nikes stolen while I visited a temple in Chaing Mai, size 12. A farang and Thai woman were leaving when we entered. A well-worn pair of New Balance shoes were left behind, size 10. There wasn't anyone else around. I had to walk like a penguin wearing these crap shoes to get back to our hotel and until I could purchase replacements. I hope the thief comes back as a cockroach in his next life. 1 1

I bought a second custom pair in May when I went back to the States, these ones also have a custom pattern that I created, silver colored Tokay Geckos on all-black straps....not sure if that will deter (Thai Superstitions) the thieves, or make them want to steal them even more now....LOL 1
