How much sin sod for 28 yo single mom of 2 Bangkok suburb (Rangsit)?

She has 2 daughters and agreed to give me a kid. She is requesting 100k baht.  

I am a 22 yo college graduate from a top western university.

You are crazy to pay sindsod for a woman who has 2 kids already. Sinsod is given to first timers. Not to women with kids already. She should be lucky she will have a man who will even support her Thai kids. She is milking you for the money. Get out of it quickly. It will only get worse and your 100,000 will be long gone.

should the bride be a divorcee or a "Mia Maiy" - a spoiled/ruined wife, normally no dowry is paid. If she has a child or children from a former marriage or relationship no dowry is paid either.

I understand divorcees usually don't get anything. but she'll let me live in her home so I dont need to buy a condo or pay for a hotel in Thailand. also she hasn't asked me to pay for her kids but only pay for my kid

perhaps you did not understand the dowry... if she already has a kid from someone else... you do not need to pay dowry. They can demand it. But if they do they only want so they can get that money from you. Dowry is abused by so many Thai families because the foreigner does not understand it. The dowry goes to the family. Not to your wife. So does not need to be paid if she is tainted (used loosely) with a child from another man. 

On a side note. She should feel lucky she has found you. With a child in tow from another man pretty much no Thai man will want to marry her. Or not very many. Which is why there are so many single mothers in Thailand. 

 

If you already have a kid with her then why do you not tell the woman and or family that you will put the 100k in an account in the childs name only. At least that way you will not really be losing it. So your child will be sure to have a future. The dowry is really only supposed to be paid to the family for a woman who never had kids with another man and never been married. 

It seems to me like the dowry is a big issue for your wife. Which makes me think she or her family are more concerned with getting that money that with their childs happiness and future having at least one grandchild with both legitimate parents. 

You also seem to think that her other child from a different man will not be your responsibility in raising. You will learn in time that is an incorrect assumption and you will end up supporting her and all the kids. Especially if there is a Thai father. He will not support the kid long after she remarries or marries you.

Then you can be sure your ass will be on the street quickly. If you plan to buy a condo, or think you will. Best to do it prior to any legitimate marriage or she will obtain it in the future. 

 You are only 22... and seems that you are not thinking too much about future possibilities simply because she had your kid along with another mans child. 

Your life is just starting out. Be careful the choices you make. I would hate to see your life ruined and future poverty and misery caused by such a marriage.

I'd not want someone else's (poor) boys under my roof. Their futures will be dicey and can give you all sorts of grief. Not your kids, not your kids to discipline.

 

No doubt the sex will be non existent after she gives you a kid. Possible she will take birth control.. she doesn't need three to ma age after you bolt as well could be her thinking. More money for kids she has 😉

I see somewhere that you're 22? I didn't catch that in the first or subsequent post. You have to be a real desperate young man to be hooking up with a woman in Thailand who is 6 years your senior with two children. The trick is to marry a younger woman that will age well. For example, my wife was childless and almost 16 yrs my junior.

 

Living in a woman's home is totally beta and fraught with problems

If you attempt to apply even the slightest effort to establish an understanding of Thai culture you will realize that so many elements are dictated by the need to save face, amongst the family, amongst and the villagers, and once you realize that you can figure out all kinds of creative workarounds. In our particular case it was a very simple creative workaround, that allowed the family to save face, and hold their chins high, and it was all good. I trusted the family, we got the money back, there were no issues. If you do not make an attempt to understand Thai culture your entire time here in Thailand will be a battle instead. I enjoy every single day I'm here. 

 

The other aspect to this is that if the woman you want to marry does not understand this, and does not have your back on this, then you know she's the wrong woman and you just move on.

Suggest 50kbht a month in arrears on the condition

1. Unlimited sex for the 2 months before each payment.

2. 1 year marriage VISA extension before the second payment.

3. No fault divorce in 3 years if no DNA tested child arrives.

She's not talking about giving you custody of one of her daughters is she? Just joking, sort of. "Agreed to give me a kid" is a pretty weird way to describe starting a family. I agree with Ben Zioner that 100K is such a small amount for sin sot that it smacks of financial desperation. Tell him whatever he wants to hear in order to get your hands on the cash. Beware of entering into agreements (anywhere, but especially here) where you perform your side of the agreement first based on the promise of future performance by the other party.
