Do you mean COTTON or SODDEN sheets? 555

Sotten.

I had been thinking of sodden, of course.

But, I did not want to be too obvious.

No.

Of course not.

Dear Folks,

As some of you might know by now, bedsheets are overpriced in Thailand.

Therefore, some of us often use them until ..... so unfortunately.... they tear....either due to an uncut toenail....or, even more unfortunately, due to untoward antics in bed.

I have about 5 bedsheets with tears, all saved up.

What is the best way to salvage these sheets, or, at least, put them to a better use.

I hate to discard good cotton.

Also, I do not want to try to use them as "rags" for mopping up spills.

Because, this kind of cloth is just not designed for that.

Additionally, I do not want to save them for Halloween, since we are already too old for that....

Once again I will say that I refuse to discard perfectly good bedsheets....just due to a few tears, here and there.

Any advice will be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Regards,

Gamma

Note:  As for new sheets for sleeping....  I will buy in China, where the quality is good and the price is right.

I buy ONLY 100-percent cotton sheets. (Very high thread-count, too, and I like heavy sheets...not that crappola garbage...)

And, last time I tried to buy a mattress protector in Thailand.....it was an absolute disaster.  Never again will I buy curtains, bedsheets, or anything 100-percent cotton in Thailand....

The price here is OUT OF SIGHT.......

Also, I have tried to just ignore the tears, and be blind to them...

But, no matter how much I try....to close my eyes....the tears just...keep on....

Getting bigger.

If only this were not so.

Wearing adult diapers should keep you from soiling your sheets.

I suggest you patch them up and then use them as an extra mattress pad which will help prevent sweat/body oils reaching the mattress.

Sweating will make sheets wet.

Prison escape out the window

I think you mean mental hospital, not prison?

My ex-wife would cut up old sheets to about the same size as a wash cloth and use them for cleaning.  They worked great and she washed them and reused them, time after time.  And I disagree with you. Cotton sheets are excellent for cleaning up spills. (When/If you wash them, don't use any fabric softer).

Take them to your nearest Indian tailor and get some shirts made up.

By the time older cotton sheets get to the point of having a tear or tears, the fabric probably is a bit worn for making a shirt/shirts out of them.

But in our case, what has worked nicely over time is taking a king-size good quality cotton sheet that finally sustains a tear and having our local Thai tailor shop cut the remaining good-quality sheet sections into matching pillow cases -- which works particularly well if the sheet involved in a standard color such as white where the newly made pillow cases can easily be used with other matching color sheet sets.

And the good part is by that point the worn cotton also makes for very soft and cozy pillow case material.

Never had this problem, in Thailand or the UK. Seems like they have rotted. Have you tried washing them? They will last much longer!

Globs, it's thanksgiving day and yet all you can think about is having a gay toga party with your torn up bed sheets. How unpatriotic!

The taller chap seems to anticipate trouble, appears to have a donor card stuck in his waistband!

I tried using nylon sheets, supposed to be less susceptible to tearing.

Awful elbow burns when cornering though!

Try silk.

Silk breathes, you know.

Also, it's a natural fiber.

Never use sheets which are not natural.

At least; I would not.

Well that one went over his head and ricocheted off down the range!

We have been here since 2007. When I look at our sheets they look fine. Of course neither of us piss the bed …. Well not yet. But maybe MrsJ has replaced our sheets several times…I wouldn’t know.  Sex is usually over the kitchen table anyway so maybe that helps.

By the way…HELL . is that your bed. You actually sleep there ….
