Is there anything good about getting old?

I'm 3 weeks from turning 70  ..  so far mid life has been wonderful .. and everyday is a new gift.

I'll answer and let you know in about 25 years ..  when I start to get old.

The question was and is: Is there anything new you are looking forward to?

Sure, it's nice to see another sunrise, maybe have a nice meal and see friend.

But is there anything in life which is better when you are 70 and not 50?

I left this question unanswered for a reason.

Obviously depending on our age, we define "old" differently.

OK Good. Trolling again. What is your reason?🙃🙃

Very simple to answer, yes you got old, many people don't!

Good answer, my friend died at the age of 36 any day you read someone died at the age very young even sportlers. I am happy to make 77 and yes you will have some complaints about your body but getting old is a gift

When I was young, I remember some songs telling me life gets better when one is older, and I laughed about them.

Now I am getting old, and I am not looking forward to getting any older.

Maybe the people who worked in some boring job all their life and who had to take care of children are happy when they finally retire. No work anymore, no annoying children anymore, time for hobbies.

Personally, I like my job. I never wanted children and never had children. Sometimes my life was busier, sometimes not so much. I always had a home, nice enough food, I lived where I wanted to live, had friends, had my hobbies, and I lived happily most of my life. I always lived in the now and didn't save a lot for a future when I am old. I am still ok with money, but I don't have enough until I am 90. But why would I want to be 80 or 90? It's not getting better.

How about you? Is there anything in your life that is more fun with 60, 70, 80, 90 or whatever? Or is it just living another year, with a little more medial issues, with a little less power?

Definately don't enjoy the thought of getting older and this has always been the case.  I've lived an incredible life and always stayed extremely fit.  Had some terrible accidents but I recovered from those with steadfast perseverance and not listening to doctors.  Take control of your life now and the future will be fine regardless of anxieties of getting old.

Every decade has been better than the last and currently almost 60 and happier than ever.  Sure I worry about 70 but confident I'll be fine.  I'm hoping for that final health issue to be a cliff type of decline.   Imagine myself saying to a friend at the hospital on my death bed - remember  just last year when I  ran a marathon and we celebrated at the pub afterward? Now look at my bag of bones I call my body.

Well I only spend on bar drinks, not bar fines, so not sure 😁

many want to live for ever but don't want to get old...doesn't work that way...

Getting older?

1. I don't spend every waking moment like i did from age 13 thinking about sex.  Amazing all the other things your mind can examine when the sex fixation slows and allows other thoughts.

2.  Can use a calculator and figure out that i have plenty of $ and won't end up working at walmart because i learned long long ago to live within my means and know the difference between what i want and what i need.

3.  Get to listen to younger people tell me how smart they are and how they have getting old all figured out.  Some are better than stand up comedians as they have no clue what's ahead.

4.  Take a nap everyday with zero guilt because if feels good.

5.  Care less and less what anyone else thinks of my life my habits etc.

6.  Hopefully get a tiny bit wiser with each passing year.  By the time i kick the bucket I will know a lot more about  what is really important in life...hint: it is generally not $$ as so many seem to think.

7.  The girls still tell me how handsome I am and i have learned they never lie...(that is a joke fyi)...just laugh and enjoy the joke.

8.  Actually maybe better health and bit safer as I have learned not to ride motorbikes, look six ways/times before you cross the street, beware of tall gals with big hands and deep voices,  avoid drunk bellligerent farangs, be home in bed by 10 pm or so and miss most of the nasty stuff that happens at 2 am.....

9.  Enjoy sitting and watching the steady parade of  funny stuff and laugh more.  Go out of your way to speak a bit more thai and joke around with Thai people.

10.  Recognize the clock is ticking and whining won't slow it down.

Ha.  I remember when i used to think 60 was old.  Now 60 was the good ole days.  Enjoy those "youthful" days while you can.

Have a friend that is 75 here in Thailand and is still running marathons and is semi-ripped.  I plan on being the same but realize luck plays a major role in the later years.  Being in the top 1% in regards to fitness just increases the odds substantially  of being healthy well into old age.  My point in my previous post was to take control of your health today and reap the benefits almost immediately and most definitely in long term.
