Used condoms found near a railway station in Pattaya have raised concerns about public health and the city’s image as a family-friendly destination.

Maybe what they mean is how can people have happy families if everyone is wearing condoms 🙄🙄 ..............LOL

My thoughts is that kids will do this sort of thing and at least they are using protection. I wouldn't worry about the image of Pattaya from what is going on here, in the middle of nowhere, a couple of Km out of town... one would simply need to look in some of the main streets off the Beach Rd! Few tourists arrive by train.

For those who are shocked by the fact condoms are laying out in the open, I only have one word for you

I wonder if the area is like so many public spaces in Thailand where it's a long hike to the nearest trash receptacle?

If you want to improve the image for tourists, I suggest more trash cans and more public rest rooms.  You'll have less trash and fewer videos of people pooping and peeing in public.

I've seen Thai's throw their trash on the ground with a trash can less then 20 feet away, they care very little for their own environment, that's not even a secret here.

That's certainly not unique to Thailand.  Here's the aftermath of a festival in Glastonbury, where they had 40,000 trash bins.

We had the same problems on the beach in Galveston where I was a Covid refugee for a couple of years.  The difference was that we had trash bins every 50 yards on the beach, even more near the parking, and a crew that drove down the beach every morning to pick up after the slobs.  That's what successful tourist areas do.

I spend a lot of time walking around Bangkok, getting in my target 10,000 steps a day.  When I finish a bottle of water, I often walk with it for 10-20 minutes before I find a can to bin it.  That's not how you appeal to tourists.

I grew up in New England (USA), spent many of my days fishing, hiking, hunting, or camping. Never seen anything like your picture, well at least until I came here, where almost every empty lot is filled with trash.
