Psychopathic human "leaders" will destroy the world with nukes wayyyyy before Skynet is sufficiently self-aware.  And the programming of AI is still GIGO (garbage in; garbage out) and as AI models prove, bias is built-in from the get-go.  So if AI decides to eliminate humans, that was programmed to do so from the start.  Am I worried about it?  Nope.

We don't have anything like real AI yet. A real AI will have a sense of humour, and should never be let any where near weapon systems.

The trend to autonomous fighting machines intrigues me. If one side's fighting machines destroy all the other side's fighting machines, does that mean they get to take over the entire country and make everyone a slave?

Let's say AI can copy your voice perfectly and make phone calls to people and pretend it's you.    How much chaos would that cause?

For your information, everyone here, reading this I wrote and you write, is sheep's. None of us are the wolf, never will be no matter you like to think

If anyone can't see that social media is a tool that has been abused by evil people to control the masses they need to have a good look at what is going on out there, IMO.

I'm well aware of that. The difference with some of us is that we know we are controlled. The sheeple actually think they control their lives, IMO.

Not much have changed with social media, really, the structure and the misinformation and propaganda is the same, but more intense for those who where protected because of location before

Before the internet people got an idea, maybe from a record, a photo, a TV show, and that idea percolated in their head for hours/days even weeks. It may or may not have lead to a small change. Music certainly moulded me. There was consumption and digestion.

Now social media is for many 24 hour consumption with very little digestion. People can't focus on any idea for even 30 seconds before they're clicking on a new idea. I know people who can't make it thru a movie without reaching for their phone.

Hence the popularity of Tik Tok.  Just seems to encourage Attention Deficit Disorders.

In another thread a poster was lamenting the loss of arithmetic skills these days. Give it another twenty years and people won't be able to talk in sentences. Lol

What about schooling, family, libraries/books, newspapers etc?

just because you had to learn arithmetic growing up doesn't mean it's a necessary skill humans need to have.

maybe since more and more gets automated, humans will learn skills and ways of thinking that never existed before.

future humans will be very different.

I already see a split. Those that love learning have never had better access and tools to gain knowledge. Those that don't have never had better access to mindless distractions.

The best minds on the planet can be found on YouTube but most people don't look further than dancing dogs in dresses.

The ratio between the two? Hmm kinda like the foreigners who study Thai to those that learn to speak English louder. Lol

You think humans will still exist in 20 years? You must be an optimist.

The only thing I know about Tik Tok is that Trump and various other politicians are not in favour of it. Probably have the right idea, Nothing good ever came out of social media, IMO.

That definitely means everything you write here. Every day. All day long.

Where are we heading?

We are now just following in the footsteps of China.

They are out ahead, and so if you wish to know where we will end up in about a year, then look to China.

How can they be ahead when the only thing they do is copy the west? Cant hope to be the leader if all you do is follow

Bit simplistic, IMO. The Chinese have a culture going back thousands of years and were civilized when western ancestors were barely out of the cave.

They play the long game, unlike the west that wants everything yesterday, but has no staying power.
