Thai Police are appealing to the public to break the law on the road slightly less than they do normally this festive period.  One high ranking officer was quoted as saying, "Seriously this time.  This one you can't break.  It's really dangerous.  Enough with the antlers."

It is easier to do this than enforce the law of wearing helmets, which will save more lives than a car with colored lights.. Besides that I see a whole year driving cars which have all kind of lights everywhere, so in fact why now fine Santa Claus??  Overloaded trucks will be more dangerous too and the blacksmoke emitting cars are more harmful for the public health... But there is no time for to fine them

The public is encouraged to report vehicles with dangerous modifications by capturing evidence and contacting police hotlines: 191

"1-9-1, what is your emergency?"

"uhh, yeah, well, this car drove by and it had antlers on top!"

"this is serious!  what's your location, sir?  we'll deploy the entire fleet of BMW smart cars immediately!"

Additionally, if these decorations contribute to an accident causing injury or death, the driver may face charges of negligence resulting in harm or fatality

Their taking it seriously then

The only Christmas spirit they need to worry about is the liquid variety consumed before driving

I've seen cars with red and blue marker lights on the front, green and blue marker lights on the rear, trucks with 15,000,000 lumen headlights, cars and scooters with no lights, trucks with an uncountable number of Michelin Men hanging off them, ambulances with flashing lights with the perfect frequency to induce an epileptic fit, and the BIB driving around with their red flashing lights permanently on.

Somehow I don't think the odd reindeer antlers and Christmas lights on a few cars will be much of an added distraction.:coffee1:

In a Facebook post dated 16 December, the Royal Thai Police noted that these festive modifications could violate traffic laws.

Since when do they have any interest in violations of traffic laws?

If Thailand enforces a rule: they are bad.

If Thailand doesnt enforce a rule: they are bad.

I'm in the US at the moment and those antlers have become popular here as well.

Why anyone would want antlers on their car is beyond me. They belong on a living being.

Fake interest here as the holidays are coming and they want to give the people the feeling that they are doing their best to make the roads safer... So all this kind of news is nothing but  to save their face

Tell the Scandinavians upon arrival that antlers here are not deer which can be haunted - to avoid hunting excursions which otherwise might be offered by the Tourism Authority of Thailand to skyrocket their statistics even more. One in eight Scandinavians shot down a Thai deer with blinking antlers ......... now that would make the world travel news for sure!

How about behavior that might result in accidents or pose risks to other road users? BKK municipal workers on a random day on Patthanakarn while I was practicing my panning technique...
