Police are investigating the mysterious death of a 29-year-old man who was struck and killed by a train in Bang Lamung, Chonburi Province, early  morning on December 17.

The incident was reported at 05:05 to Pol. Col. Navin Sinthurat, superintendent of Bang Lamung Police Station. Rescue teams and investigators quickly arrived at the scene near Ban Noen Sai in Bang Lamung Subdistrict.

The victim was identified as Mr. Sitthichai Chaisin, a 29-year-old man from Maha Sarakham Province. He was found wearing a blue T-shirt and jeans, with his ankles tightly bound by a black long-sleeved sweater. His body had been struck by train No. 5113 heading to Bangkok, causing it to be thrown into nearby grass.

Next to the tracks, authorities discovered a sack containing milk, snacks, a pack of instant noodles, and a 2-inch photo. Burn marks and smoke were also visible in the grass near the area, adding further intrigue to the case. The police cordoned off the scene to preserve evidence.

The train driver reported seeing the man lying motionless beside the tracks as the train approached. Despite sounding the horn, the victim did not move, leaving no time to stop the train before impact. The train struck the head of the victim, crushing the skill and leaving a gruesome scene spread across the area.

Police Lieutenant Sarasuphan Adtansri-anan of Bang Lamung Police Station oversaw the initial investigation and evidence collection at the scene. Forensic officers from Region 2 Chonburi have been called to assist with further analysis to uncover the circumstances leading to the incident.

Authorities are exploring all possibilities, including suicide and foul play, as the victim’s bound ankles raises serious suspicions. The investigation remains ongoing.

Authorities have clarified the circumstances surrounding the death of a 29-year-old man who was struck by a train in Bang Lamung, Chonburi, dismissing suspicions of foul play after discovering a shirt tied around his ankles.

The incident occurred at approximately 05:05 on December 17, on the train tracks before Rong Po Soi, Moo 1, Bang Lamung Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. The deceased was identified as Mr. Sitthichai Chaisin, a resident of Maha Sarakham province. Initial reports raised concerns when officers noticed a shirt tied around the victim’s feet, prompting the involvement of forensic police from Chonburi’s Region 2 Provincial Police Office.

At 08:35 Pol. Col. Navin Sinthurat, Superintendent of Bang Lamung Police Station, and forensic officers conducted a detailed examination at the scene. Their investigation confirmed there were no signs of physical assault on the body. The shirt tied around the victim’s ankles was determined to be makeshift footwear for walking along the train tracks and not a form of restraint.

Further investigation, led by Pol. Lt. Col. Kornpong Sukhvisit, Deputy Superintendent of Investigations, uncovered additional clues. Police reviewed evidence from local witnesses, CCTV footage, and technical analysis, which included posts from the deceased’s TikTok account. In a recent post, Mr. Sitthichai expressed distress, writing:

“If my death makes you happy, I’ll disappear from your family. I’ll remove my name from the house registration to avoid bringing shame. Sorry for being an ungrateful person. #RailwayKhaoNoiPleaseCleanThisUp”

The post suggested emotional turmoil, which may have contributed to the incident. Police are gathering statements from the victim’s family to gain further clarity.

Pol. Col. Navin confirmed that, for transparency, the victim’s body has been transferred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the Police General Hospital in Bangkok for a thorough autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. The findings will provide closure to the family, who will then proceed with religious funeral rites.
